Are You Willing To Compromise & Surrender What Our Founding Fathers Set Forth For This Republic?

Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them.
- Thomas Jefferson, Declaration of the Causes and Necessities of Taking up Arms, July 6, 1775
Many of us were hoping for a truly Conservative candidate to be our nominee, but Hunter, Tancredo and Thompson made their exits and those who remain are less than substandard by comparison. Some of us are willing to support whomever the Republican nominee may be. I was recently asked if I was willing to compromise my Conservative values and principles to support the nomination of a less than worthy candidate in order to defeat what I think may be the worse destruction leveled on this great nation: the election of Clinton or Obama to the Presidency.
Initially, I understood the question posed but I failed to see the truth behind the question. Fortunately, DoughtyOne, posted a thread asking just how willing we are to compromise those values with a great analogy as to the ramifications of such a compromise. I wont restate DOs words as he said them so well himself, but the meaning behind those words have reverberated in my mind since and left me asking myself, How many of us realize the compromises we are about to make this coming Tuesday? The more I read and posted on threads this week, the more I realized that many of us are willing to make that compromise without regard to the intent and principles of our Founding Fathers when they created this great nation in which we are fortunate to live.
Our Founding Fathers were eloquent spokesmen on the founding principles of self-government who believed in Liberty, Freedom, Justice and Equality. They believed that Wisdom, Knowledge and Virtue were necessary for the preservation of those rights and liberties. With a stirring language, that reaches the depths of ones soul, they wrote one of the greatest documents in history which changed the face of this world forever. When they undertook to sign their names to the document they risked their own pursuit of life and happiness to grant us the ability to know and live under the principles they valued most. To denounce the kings authority was an act of treason, punishable by death, yet 56 determined men picked up quill and ink to sign the Declaration of Independence risking their lives, fortunes, family and all that they held dear.
So I ask each of you, are you willing to give up all that these men gave for so little in return? Because if we refuse to stand up for what is right and principled when given the choice, we will deserve what we receive for accepting what has been handed to us. To many of you I am preaching to the choir, but to others I hope you will read this post and consider the principles on which our nation was founded, and the effects of relinquishing those tenets. Before you go to the polls on Tuesday, consider exactly what is at stake when you cast your vote.
In the words of Samuel Adams, 1781: Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual - or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.

Thank you. I hadn’t seen DoughtyOne’s post which is also very good. Unless we can start a “Conservative Party” of our own I’m afraid we’re doomed. The GOP is no longer the voice of conservatism.
I will not compromise. I would really prefer to go to arms. I’m afraid if we do not fight back now those of us willing and with memory will be long gone.
Here’s to hoping there are some young people out there that will understand the true history of this country and not let it die on the vine.
Our country has become too populated, and is too geographically large to go backwards and the forward movement is not going to happen without a great conservative leader of which we do not have.
I refuse to pull the lever for what we are being offered.
We few won’t get what we deserve but the millions of people who only know American Idol and the latest about Britney Spears will.

“The primary is almost over and it is time to rally around ONE person. That person will be McCain, for better or worse. Democrats are the enemy, NOT MCCAIN!”
The primaries are not almost over. I live in Indiana and we don’t have the primary till May. Frankly, I’m offended that all the other idiots around the country have left us with a fool like McCain. He’s your candidate, you vote for him. I will not vote for him.

there are a whole lot of idiots in this country that are ready too.
There are a whole lot on this forum, also. This post evolved from what I have been reading here lately, and to be honest some of the comments recently have surprised me to the degree I had to check the url address to confirm I was still on FR.

I can't think of a more appropriate instruction... given this sure does seem to be a Gideon type of cutting going on this election year... The Book of Judges describes the LORD's government and chapter 7 tells US who is in charge ..... And the LORD said unto Gideon, "The People that are with thee are *TOOO* man for *ME* to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against ME, saying, 'Mine own hand hath saved me.'
Keep reading ... if no Bible available 7:7 And the LORD said unto Gideon, "By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other People go every man unto his place."
I am trying to see which of the candidates fit the profile of what made Gideon one of the LORD's judges... still looking.

That’s where you are wrong. Mclame WILL NOT be the de facto nominee. Perhaps it’s time you pulled your head from under the sand and take a good look around. The MSM might be shoving that man down our throats, well, yours apparently, but not mine. Keep dreaming.

If this country has no option but to flounder in the abyss of liberal theology, there is no sense in having a RINO at the helm to have the blame assigned to Republicans.
Vote for Romney while there is still time to avoid a ‘liberals only’ choice!

Based on home page you obviously have been a MCCain fan long before today. My father retired from the Marine Corp after more than 27 years and most of brothers have served in the Nvay, Army or Marines. I thank God each and every day that thay and many others fought and risked their lives to ensure that we have the opportunity to pull the lever to elect a nominee. But because McCain served in the military does not make him the only choice of candidates. Far from it. He has personally done more damage to the laws of our land and its people in recent years that it should give you a moment to pause and consider his atual record.

McCain MAY be better in the short run. But he will trash and ruin the Republican Party as a Conservative party. And for that, socialism will stop be instituted incrementally, but accelerate. And John McCain will go happily goose-stepping into this future.

Let’s see.......”The voters are putting McCain where he is. It is time to be an adult.”
Actually the MSM are putting mclame where he is. Perhaps I’ve missed something and EVERYONE has voted in ALL primaries already?
Sorry, my mistake, I didn’t know all primaries were done and over. Oops, my bad!

Well, if McCain was your fourth choice fromm the start and Romney was third, why are you pushing McCain so earnestly when Romney is still in the race? Romney won Maine last night and is leading in CA today!
