I don’t buy it. If the play call is a pass, you pass. You don’t show up your coach and not run the play he calls.

Go ahead and head hunt on him. Don’t be surprised when Vince Wilfork blows out a few opposing QBs knees in return.

Well they were for stuff like dinners, pizza, some golf balls. I did bet straight up, not very smart, but luckily the G-Men bailed me out. If I was in Vegas I would have bet the giants to cover the spread and the over. I thought it would be 38 to 28 pats. Next time I’m going to do whatever Plaxico Burress tells me to do.

I only watched one football game this season . . . the game back in October or November when the undefeated Patriots defeated the then-undefeated Colts.

Based on what I saw in that single game, I predicted the Giants would win the Super Bowl -- and by THREE POINTS, too!

The Patriots this season were one of the most overrated teams in NFL history. Their running game wasn't very good this year (as it also was a few years ago in one of their championship seasons), and their defensive unit has gotten old and stale.

MVP should have been someone from the defense like Tuck.

It would have been hard to argue against that selection. How odd would that have been -- when you consider that Tuck is technically a backup player on the Giants?!

Manning deservedly won it for that play on the winning drive when he eluded the sack and got the 35-yard completion.

We had a conversation about Super Bowl MVP awards on another thread a couple of days ago. This isn't the first time a quarterback was given the MVP award solely on the basis of a last-minute scoring drive. Go back and check out Brady's numbers in the Patriots' Super Bowl victory over the Rams a while back. He only completed 16 passes for about 145 yards, and yet he was named the game's MVP simply because of the winning scoring drive . . . even though the winning points were scored on a long field goal by Adam Vinatieri.

Sometimes there’s no justice in the NFL. If a team goes 15-1 in the regular season and then goes on to win the Super Bowl, people will rank them among the best of all time. If a team goes 16-0 in the regular season and then loses in the Super Bowl, they’re really nothing more than a footnote in the history books even though they only had one loss on their record.

I am one of those giants fans that expected the worst to happen, because over the last 17 years they found new and creative ways to lose games.

Come on now! As a lifelong Jets fan I take offense to that statement. When it comes to finding creative ways to lose and pulling defeat out of the jaws of victory few teams can hold a candle to the Jets. Compared to that, the Giants are amateurs.

I won all my bets...
Giants +10.5 pts
Giants win by 1-6 pts
Giants first team to score
Giants first team to reach 10 pts
Patriots winning at halftime Giants win at full time (this had the best odds)

Now I am shopping on line because baby needs a new computer. :D

I won my bet: $5 that the Giants would win. Wish I had bet more than that.

Is there any way that you could put up a picture of Gisele wearing a Justin Tuck jersey with her underwear? That would completely tick off my brother-in-law!

Can anyone tell me why the Pats went for it on 4th and 13?

That is the question everybody in Boston is going to be thinking about for the next six months...

Thanks for that remark....Yep, I am a Colts fan who was pulling for the Giants. No hatred of the Patriots. They have had a fine season. I just wanted Peyton’s brother to win one. And had very little confidence he could do so - but he proved me wrong. Way to go, Eli!

Wow - am going to have to search out a replaying of them reading the Declaration of Independence!

No I don’t know what blonde woman you are talking about - unless it is Tom Brady’s girlfriend. Others have posted about her on this thread. (thinking she was a distraction for Brady)....if that’s the woman you are asking about.

What about the 49er playoff game a few years back? That game was a blow out that turned into a disaster. All those close losses to the seahawks also come immediately to mind.
As a new yorker I feel for Jets fans believe me. One half away from going to the superbowl against denver, and that’s as good as it’s been since superbowl 3. So you’re definitely up on me in the heartache department.

I think the “contraction” of “Slant & Go” is “Slo-Go” in footballese. It was a nice route. As an old corner-back/safety, I could relate to the poor defender.

Keep in mind that in retrospect, the turning point of the Giants' season was way back when Michael Strahan didn't report for training camp and speculated that he might reture. Justin Tuck -- who was originally drafted as a somewhat undersized defensive tackle -- was moved to left defensive end to take Strahan's place.

Strahan eventually came back, and after the first couple of games he was playing well. As a result, the Giants had this extra defensive end who they rotated into games on a regular basis. And on passing downs they often lined up in defensive formations in which all FOUR of their linemen were natural defensive ends (Strahan, Umenyora, Tuck and Mathias Kiawanuka). This is one reason why they had the best past rush in the NFL this year.
