Reagan Library Republican Presidential Debate: January 30, 2008
SIMI VALLEY, California (CNN) -- Republican presidential hopefuls will face off Wednesday night without a familiar face as ex-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to drop out and endorse front-runner Sen. John McCain.
The remaining candidates will take the stage in a debate -- sponsored by CNN, the Los Angeles Times and Politico -- beginning at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.
The event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, follows McCain's Tuesday night win in the Florida primary.
McCain topped former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 36 percent to 31 percent in the hotly contested race.
Giuliani placed third with 15 percent of the vote, followed closely by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee with 14 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas was fifth with 3 percent.
Giuliani is expected to end his White House bid and endorse McCain at a campaign event in California later Wednesday, Republican Party sources said.
Minus Giuliani, the debate will be a four-candidate affair -- McCain, Romney, Huckabee and Paul -- with CNN's Anderson Cooper moderating.

My sediments exactly I kept waiting to see if he yelled about the strawberries!
Eh ??
LOL
I had so hoped FL would be the turning point for Romney. I am not giving up until Super Tuesday. If Romney will just keep hammering McCain and his lies it might happen. Unfortunately...he can't get the press McCain gets.
Huckabee punted on the O’Connor question, but at least he went after the question of life. So he gets a thumbs up for that.
O’Connor was NOT a good choice.
HIs first wife was very loyal and supportive as well.
Though it didn't matter much to John.
If so, what's he waiting for?
Well! McCain sounds like established Washington politician!
We want something else.
The press is waiting until after McCain secures the nomination to reveal how poor his health really is. With FDR, they were able to hide his wheelchair for over a decade. With McCain, the truth comes out after Minneapolis.
Romney isn’t as weak as he appears. I’m STILL an strong supporter of Hunter and Thompson...either guy would have had my vote without reservation....tonite McPain just proved that he’s worthless....Romney proved he’s an accpetable compomise for conservatives given the options, and Huckabee might not be a half bad VP possibility if Hunter and Thompson are not interested or viable
regarding the o’connor question...Ron Paul gave the only straightforward answer. McCain gave the lamest answer.
Does anyone remember how hateful McCain talked to Arnold’s wife, Maria Shriver during the 2000 campaign? She was working for NBC and he literally let her have it? And now the weakling Arnold is endorsing him! What a guy!
Surely some McCain people will change their minds after the debate tonight. McCain is just a bitter, angry man who thinks he is “entitled”.
LOL--that's what it looked like to me too. Parent's night at the elementary school.
I am pro-Romney.
I un-registered after the amnesty bill failed last year. You send a letter to the County Registrar-Recorder lying that you are moving to another state and must register there. And please take me off the roll here.
You can re-register if you choose to. If McCain is up, I won't.
I did that after also being called to Jury Duty where the case was about illegal aliens shooting at each other. I don't need that sort of crap either.
Agree! It would have been so much more informative to let McCain and Romney debate. They are the top two right now. I want to hear each of them explain their platforms more in depth. Of course, that would not help McCain much. His record speaks for itself.
What did your Gerbil do with kleenex? Never mind, don’t answer that.
Is Edwards going to come out and endorse McCain?
My problem with that question, is that it was a pot shot at Reagan....who happens to be , i dunno, DEAD! Huckabee gave the proper response to a very sleazy question....
