WASHINGTON — The $146 billion stimulus package intended to jolt the economy by giving taxpayers rebates up to $1,200 includes cash returns for illegal immigrants who pay taxes.
Under the plan passed by the House, illegal immigrants who qualify as "resident aliens" and earned a minimum of $3,000 would be eligible for rebates of between $300-$600, FOX News has learned.
Only those illegals who have been assigned an Individual Tax Identification Number that allows them to file income taxes would be eligible. Resident aliens are defined as people who spend a "substantial" amount of time in the U.S. and have not been deported.
The provision has irked illegal immigration opponents, who say the assigning of TINs and collection of taxes from illegals sanctions their presence in the country.
Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., told FOX News that the bill will certainly stimulate "more illegal immigration."

I would rather the government do nothing and let the economy correct itself. If they could just make the tax cuts permanent, it would be a good thing, but giving everyone rebate checks so they can rush to WalMart and buy a bunch a Chinese made products is insanity.
If they can figure out who the illegals are that are "paying taxes" then they ought to be able to use those records to deport them!

Just for the record, most 89% of all illegals are paid in CASH and do not pay any taxes.
The illegal immigrant would have to steal and use an American SSN when he commits a felony by filing a fraudulent tax return.
Any check sent to an illegal who has violated the law, should have that money confiscated and sent back to the US Treasury, telling them to stick this up their big fat blotted A— for having the arrogance of sending a criminal a check in the first place!

Instead of giving the rebates to ILLEGAL immigrants, the money should be used to round them up and ship them back to the country of their origin.

Uh, wrong. They’re illegal aliens and FELONS, and as such, have no business in this country. They should not be rewarded for longevity, just because they haven’t been snatched up and deported. The very idea of giving illegals a ‘tax id’ is in direct violation of Title 8 of the U.S. Code sections 1324 and 1325 respectively. The government is in direct violation of its own federal statute.

At $3,000 they are not paying any taxes - they are probably getting a refund if they have children. They get the refundable earned income credit, the child care credit and now a tax rebate. Not bad for paying not taxes and being here illegally.

person comes over the border knwiong they are sneaking over, they know they are breaking the law, they now get a job and break the law afain, maybe getting doing fraud to get a SSN , Now the Govt wants to sent money to them.
W ee are told that they come here because they send money back to Mexico to help family so if the Govt sends them money just how is them sending money back to Mexico helping the American economy
To think I came here legally, waited years to become an American, did my papers, ionterviews , paid my fees, worked hard and now I see I might as well have just ocome here illegally and saved the money I paid, had more time instead of doing interviews, getting photo’s, lining up for hours etc etc
Mc Cain says he straight talks theh how about straihgt talking to us and telling us here legally that it is fair that illegals should be rewarded for breaking the law
