Well, Florida does have the second highest foreclosure rate (Nevada is first I think and my State, Mich is third) and Fla prop prices are down 15% Y over Y. Down there I think it will get much worse as the snowbirds cut back on owning two, or more, houses.
Here in Mich it IS really bad, empty houses everywhere and I live in very upscale Bloomfield Hills.
To the extent ANY President can impact the economy, Romney is the clear choice.

Go Mitt!

Mitt Romney wins by 4%. The Mason Dixon poll may be a few days old, but they are the best in the business and that was their result.

Mitt, by 5.
I’ll see your 5 and raise you .6. A 5.6% Romney win.

If Romney gets the nomination, Im pretty sure Jim DeMint will be it. He is a rock-solid Southern conservative and hes been with Romneys campaign from the very beginning. I've noticed several posts floating the prospect of DeMint being Romney's running mate. I didn't know much about him before this, so here are some links you might be interested in. It looks like DeMint would fill in the gaps well for Romney.

I was predicting a Thompson/Romney ticket, but I will now be delighted to settle for Romney/Thompson. First McCain has to be stopped, and that will not be easy.

If McCain is close in Naples, Romney has a problem.
Naples is in Collier County, and Collier County is one of only two counties in Florida that voted for Katherine Harris over Bill Nelson in 2006.
Bush got nearly 70% of the vote here in 2000 and 2004.
My informal poll of people I have talked to in Naples has Romney winning about 20:1 over McCain.
The only people not voting for Romney are the registered Democrats that I have talked to.
I haven’t spoken with a single McCain supporter yet.

Yep, McCain has to be stopped. I totally fail to see what possible appeal he has to Republicans. He is creepy and in poor health. The other week he had to be helped by his wife when he deplaned. He walks like somebody who is ill. His mental state is not stable. His amnesty was hugely unpopular.
