ANYONE THINK IT IS TIME FOR ANOTHER PARTY?

Posted on 01/23/2008 1:05:47 PM PST by gbscott1954

I was sitting here thinking something that I have thought before several times in recent months. The Republican Party began as a third party championing the cause of abolition and westward expansion. Just was wondering some of your thoughts about if it is time to begin thinking about a new true conservative party dedicated to true conservative principles?

I wonder if they make "rain socks?"

Why, yes they do. For example, SealSkinz offers this item:

Mid Thermal Olive Sock

Using a high density loop pile padded layer of Merino wool as a lining, the Mid Thermal is the warmest SealSkinz sock available and is available in both black and olive green. Mid calf length.

This model is advertised as being Windproof, Waterproof, and Breathable

You will have to try to build it during a Clinton Presidency.

No, but it wouldn’t hurt to grumble about it loud enough to get someone’s attention down at GOP headquarters.

I just sent their so-called 'survey' funds solicitation back to them in their pre-paid envelope with a big back message "When the GOP gets back to Reagan Conservatism, then I might donate again!"

Whigs and many who became Republicans actually became the largest party in the 1854 elections.

Maybe the republicans and democrats could do the same thing.

here’s another aspect of being conservative:
Conservatives live in the real world and not the lala land of academia and the senate floor. Conservatives don’t chase after every new idea just because it’s popular. Conservatives trust experience and the wisdom of the ages.

“I’d rather take back the Republican Party than go through starting a whole new one”

Yeah, the Democratic-Republican Party (1792–c.1824)

“ANYONE THINK IT IS TIME FOR ANOTHER PARTY?”

Frankly I’d be more interested if a couple of third parties already in existence could iron out some differences and merge, Constitution Party and Libertarian Party. Both have very good points to them, and together they might be able to win local/state races, then work up to the the major leagues.

I’d like to see something like that in my lifetime.

Now, this is the stuff dreams are made of. I shall have pleasant ones now and buy some rain socks on the morrow. Or at least on the internet.

“When its time for another party it will happen. Unfortunately 3rd parties are political suicide when America isn’t ready for them.”

The REpublican Pary was a third party. In eight years it rose to win the White House and Congress.

I agree. We don’t see enough of that among Conservatives anymore.

Every third party I have been involved with (Constitution, Libertarian, Conservative of NY, etc.) always attract flakes and are basically glorified role playing games a la Dungeons and Dragons.

Ain't that the truth!

That is why we must pull the party right, not bust it up!

I have been hearing that since the 80s.
How has that worked out for us so far?

I’m thinking that a good time out of power might clear a few minds. - Now America itself will pay the price but the fact is every country that votes gets the government that it votes for and we are in the minority in our own party.

Most freepers now heartily support our own socialists like Mitt.
And his Mittcare, his pro abortion, pro amnesty, and pro strong guns control stances mean nothing. nothing at all but put that big R next to his name and we all have to fall down and bow to the anointed one.

I’m not going to vote for the GOP candidates that do not agree with anything at all that I agree with, no matter what side of the aisle they sit.

“I raised my kids to be conservative. Both have told me they are independant, NOT Republican.”

Same here. My two adult sons are so disillusioned with the republican party they have decided to support Ron Paul. I’ve tried to talk some sense into their heads but they just don’t have any desire to be a part of the RINO party anymore. For me, I guess this will be the first time that I won’t be participating in a presidential election. Not gonna vote for a slimy RINO. Let the RINOS and liberals take over our party and lets see how that works out for them.
