I was sitting here thinking something that I have thought before several times in recent months. The Republican Party began as a third party championing the cause of abolition and westward expansion. Just was wondering some of your thoughts about if it is time to begin thinking about a new true conservative party dedicated to true conservative principles?

The next viable and serious third party will inhabit the center, and it will be inhabited by people ranging from moderate Democrats who've finally had enough of the extreme left, to moderately conservative Republicans who've had it with "conservative leaders."

This new party will own American politics for 50+ years.

I like the idea but in a country like America an exclusive Conservative Party would become marginalized. Something like the Liberal Dems in Britain.

What I think needs to be done is a serious consolidation of a Conservative block inside the republican party with a prime objective of raising cash because money is power. Then use that cash to command the Republican party with.

We can’t always be waiting for a Ronald Reagan to come along.

Now, I know it's a tempting thought, but it's also something that DNC trolls would love to post here.

I do not think that YOU are a DNC operative (Like I say, I understand your desire for a more conservative GOP).

As the election is demonstrating there is not agreement on what "Conservatism" means. You can verify this by reading almost any topic on FR.

Conservative > Pro- Life (some libertarian types disagree
Conservative > Free Trade (paleo-conservatives disagree)
Conservative > Strong Defense (yes, but how much? )

Structurally we have two parties and will continue to. (Due to our winner take all election rules). We've always had two parties, but they have changed names, or just once they were replaced.

Are we at a "replacement" time? I don't see it. The "R's" will 'morph' into something different then they are now. Already we see: more big government supporting, less focused on morality, etc.
