This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:
"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of Americas industrial base."
"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

I'm a Christian, read that born again, and I take issue with Huckabee because of his positions, past and present, just like I take issue with Romney's, past and present. Their religions and religious beliefs do not enter my concerns political....see, it's NOT ABOUT their RELIGIONS, it's about their DECISIONS POLITICAL.
That's good, and I had a much bigger problem with Huckabee when I first learned about him here, but many posts didn't pass the smell test, so I researched on my own, and found out that Huckabee is much more conservative than what is represented here. Many statements about his record are extremely misrepresented with a large dose of hyperbole. And the worst part is that anti-southern bigotry rears its head in posts critical of Huckabee.

In my book, it's fraudulent to run now as a strong opponent of amnesty, when he was not very long ago, in a speech before the National Latin American Conference, throwing out lines about "southern white guys being in the minority'. His audience, of course, found this worthy of laughter and applause. If the afore-mentioned demographic doesbecome a minority, it will have been the kinds of policies he advanced as governor, that helped make it happen. And once we have a large Hispanic community, who will vote 'Rat, because 'Rats know how to out-pander even the most socialist RINO, all those concerns we had about cultural and social issues won't be a concern anymore, because the 'Rats will have a lock on them.

Huckabee does not have broad appeal. Theocratizing the Constitution is what they do in islamic countries.
This has nothing to do with my beliefs except that I don't trust Huckabee, therefore, I do not believe him.

Right now dan, I just do not know. I have problems with them all. I am thinking and praying and hoping for a miracle. I am Christian and I am American. I am Conservative from birth... and I believe that the Constitution was written by men whose minds and hands were moved by GOD himself. I believe the Constitution means exactly what it says and says what it means. I find attempts to legislate it’s content from the bench abhorrent. I believe that it clearly lays out OUR rights that are granted by GOD and the limits placed upon government by man. I believe that with all of my heart. I believe in the Conservative ideology and principles and I live by them. I am proud of them. For all these reasons and more; I find myself conundrum. I am trying to work out a plan of action... but I also remain true to GOD and the form of government that HE gifted us with. I see ALL of the remaining candidates... to greater and lesser degrees... wanting to fundamentally change GOD’s handiwork that is America. You asked... there it is.

...And some called this guy the only "True Conservative" in the race... See the problem with the work 'conservative' is that it hides an important principle of set of beliefs. THAT IS why I am pushing for the "SOCIAL-CONSERVATIVE label.... Becaus it separate us from the so called 'conservatives.
What is a social-Conservative you ask? :)
It is 'conservative' (on fiscal principles, guns and so on...in different degrees) and also one who cares about the culture, the values of our country not mention Illegal Immigration and a strong Militry. Otherwise the country will end up very 'free,' very 'rich' but a very 'ugly' country.
A lot of Duncan Hunter is that!... In addition of course to HAVING BUILT AN ACTUAL FENCE ON THE BODER...and whose sons have been in several tours in IRAQ! ... Now can say that? LOL
So when DuNcan endoresed some one, his CHARACTER gives it some value. :)

There are things about Ron Paul I like and believe are important: 1) Hes a Constitutionalist; 2) fights for Americas sovereignty; 3) is against the UN; 4) is against the NAU; 5) is against abortion; 6) is pro-2nd Amendment. On all these things, he is not a johnny-come-lately in his positions. What a President thinks about abortion is largely irrelevant. How many pro-life Presidents have we had since 1973?
Ron Paul would prefer to live in the 1700s and send out some government sanctioned pirate ships to protect our national security.
He is a frickin' joke. He's my congressman, and I get to vote against him twice in March.

".....recent Presidents or their wives have put out books about the White House pets? The one from the Huckabees would be interesting, shall we say...." Yep. It would be interesting, especially when the people find out about how Huck covered up the brutal killing of a dog, by his son. Now, that is parenting!/s And, that one single example, should give everyone an idea of how he will run this country.
To: pissant
I wasn’t saying you were throwing him under the bus, but many have.
I may not agree with his choice but I understand it and can still respect him.

And I would be against Huckabee if that is what he said he wanted to do.
This has nothing to do with my beliefs except that I don't trust Huckabee, therefore, I do not believe him.
If your distrust of him came from the misleading posts about him here and in other conservatives forums, I would suggest that you actually look at what he said, what his positions are, and the context of the talking points about his record.

Bingo! It*s taken one step farther—cruelty to animals, cruelty to people; legalized abortion was promoted by the feminazis under the guise of stopping child abuse, yet through all these 35 years, violence toward women and children has escalated continuously. When unborn babies can be murdered so casually, then respect for all life is diminshed.
