Today is the day.
I like Fred, but come on- Romney has won in MI, WY, and NV, Thompson has not won any states, including now SC which he was supposed to win or at least be second under his orginal strategy. Romney's chances, whatever they are, look at lot better than Fred's right now by any objective measure.
Give it up. Thompson and Romney are less than one percentage point apart in South Carolina.
Rush has mentioned Bloomberg’s plans. I think it was last Wednesday, check the transcript.
Wonderful. Just what we need, advice from a New York liberal. What’s up with Bloomberg? Doesn’t he have a job to go to?
Dingy Harry Reid will be up against the MOAF (Mother of all filibusters).
< < ...Plus, I would like my premiums cut in half as happened in Mass with such a large pool of people. One of the reasons your premiums keep going up is you are paying for all the uninsureds. > >
No more uninsured? So, illegal aliens in Mass have to buy private health insurance? So, why is it so hard to find them and deport them? Just read the address on their insurance card.
I think the liberals in Mass are not insuring illegals....the scourge of our nation.
Romney knew what Fred supporters may realise tomorrow. South Carolina was largely a winner-take-all primary. Neither Fred nor Romney are going to get a single delegate out of the state, most go to McCain and the few rest to Huckabee.
Meanwhile, by campaigning a few more days in Nevada, Romney broke 50%, winning a REAL majority, and took a vast majority of that state’s delegates (which were NOT winner-take-all).
All he could have done in South Carolina is held his voters and kept Thompson in 4th place. Thompson hadn’t gone after McCain, Romney couldn’t do it alone.
Romney worked hard but he couldn’t overcome McCain’s 100% name recognition in South Carolina.
Winner take all is not a literal definition.
“WINNER-TAKE-ALL type as a method of choosing delegates to that party’s National Convention; as a result, the WINNER-TAKE-ALL type has survived only in the Republican Party nominating process where it was still being used by the GOP in roughly half of the party’s primaries in 1996. However, the current form of the WINNER-TAKE-ALL primary, in most cases, allocates district and at-large delegates separately so that a presidential contender might lose the statewide vote yet still, by winning a district or few, pick up all the delegates from those districts: as a result, the WINNER-TAKE-ALL type as currently used by Republicans in most states where it is found does not necessarily allocate ALL of a state’s delegates to the statewide winner.”

I just got home, been out all day. Excuse me while I go back out and vomit. I repeat The Devil can make men dance upon the brink of Hell, as though they were on the verge of Heaven. God have mercy on America.
I hate the sin of abortion as much as you do, and fight against it. However, I have to look at the whole of the candidate and the issues of the present day. Not just that issue alone.
And FYI, I have never had to vote for someone who was not pro-life, but I may be forced to this time around. Believe me, if it’s Rudy of Hillary, Rudy gets my vote all day long.
McCain-Kennedy:Immigration debacle <== wasnt this the bill that Bush endorsed?
From polipundit
No to McCain
If the Republican party chooses to nominate John McCain, I will not vote for him in the general election.
My reason is immigration. I believe others may have different reasons - the McCain-Feingold assault on freedom of speech, McCains opposition to the Bush tax cuts, his attempts to gut the Second Amendment Take your pick.
If you cannot support McCain in the general election - for whatever reason - I urge you to publicly pledge so now, so that the Republican party realizes exactly what it would be getting if it nominated him.
Since immigration is my most important issue, lets review McCains record of votes on this issue. Among many other things, McCain recently voted to:
1. Support amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens
2. Support giving felons and gang members amnesty
He is the only Republican presidential candidate who does not agree that English should be the official national language of the United States.
No matter which party such a man belongs to, I cannot support putting him in the White House. I will never vote for him.
In several shots of him tonight, I've also noticed his left eye seems different, as in the first pic. Maybe it is a shadow caused by the swollen left side of his face.
Just noticed the last pic .. what IS that girl doing?
Fred’s speech from last night ~ the audio is a little
uneven in spots.

He recently had another melanoma removed from his face in that area. Word is, it’s still somewhat swollen, but he’s had at least two surgeries there which have obviously affected his looks. I think the spot you’re looking at is shadow.
You think that’s bad?
Florida is not only (probably) a winner take all primary (hard for Fred to score some delegates), but my staunch Republican aunt there is still registered Democrat.
She’s almost 91 and registered back in the days when there was no Republican party in Florida and if you wanted a say in the primary, you had to be registered Democrat to be able to get a more moderate Dem up in the general election.
She voted for Edwards. LOL! Ghastly, but she was favoring Rudy or maybe Romney, and there wasn’t any point of me trying to sell her on voting for Fred, as she couldn’t vote in the Republican primary anyway.
If I’d known she was still registered Democrat I’d have encouraged her to switch as she has voted solidly Republican for as long as I’ve known her views on politics.
The country is reverting back to being a cartoon like it was before W won in 2000.
I would vote for McCain only if he were the last Republican standing against any of the Democrats.
PLEASE don’t let that happen!!
The garbage that the Dems will offload from their files on him and Cindy would be offal.
