It's time for an assault on the MSM
none | 1-17-2008 | Joe West

Posted on 01/17/2008 1:20:54 PM PST by jnwest

This is my first vanity post, so I'm hoping for leniency. (I won't use the word clemency!) Anyway, here I sit, an American in Poland, watching in disbelief that so many of my fellow Americans are clueless as to what is going on in our great country. Since Fred Thompson's 3rd place Iowa finish, I've been hoping and praying that the truth about some of the other Republican candidates would surface and give true conservatives a chance. Personally, I respect Fred Thompson's refusal to pander - whether it's to the press or his audience. That's the kind of president I want. However, in this campaign, the main stream media has shown very unusual lenience towards statements made by certain Republican candidates. For example, most of us know that that ANY of the three Democratic nominees will eat Huckabee's lunch IF he gets the nomination. So, in my opinion, they allow naiive Americans to think that Huckabee has a chance of winning. They know what the Democrats will do. They know that they will be the medium through which Hillary or Obama could engage Huckabee in the kind of attacks never seen before in a presidential race. I said all that to say this: Is it hopeless? Or can we somehow gather together and demand the MSM follow the little conscience they have left, report ALL the news and have the same standards for ALL the candidates? Can we really allow the MSM to get away with destroying our great country? Should we just sit back and assume that right will prevail and Huckabee will self-destruct? Maybe I'm just frustrated, angry and feel helpless. But does ANYONE have any ideas? If you don't, don't bother responding. I already know that most of you agree, so I'm not trying to get your sympathy. I'm just tired of the MSM.

I love his stand on the msm myself. I just wish he would take that attitude towards all his campaign adversaries.

The MSM are not free agents. Look at the backgrounds of these national “news” people. Just about one hundred percent Democrat. They study conservatives the way an anthropologist studies a distant, strange, tribe.

They are all for diversity, except in the newsroom. Oh, yeah, they have people of different genders and colors reporting the news...as long as they are liberal.

It’s a joke.

MSM: Don’t buy it. Don’t watch it.

“Or can we somehow gather together and demand the MSM follow the little conscience they have left,”

That’s your critical mistake. They have no conscience left.

“But does ANYONE have any ideas? “

Circumvent them using new media tool. This will take some time.

You’re in Poland. Wonderful. We often threaten to move there if the dems get in office. My father-in-law fought as a young teenager in the Uprising of 1944 in Warsaw.

As another poster said, you’re singing to the choir here. We fight the MSM by using the internet and blogs to our advantage and by going to the streets when needed also, to support our troops or the candidate of our choice.

That’s all I’m afraid we can do, it does work sometimes. We were able to holler loud enough about amnesty and about the 2006 elections.

Just don’t give up.

We will have to deduct points from you based on your join- date to first-vanity-post-date ratio, but we will give you bonus points for expressing the right sentiment (maybe “assault” isn’t the best word though), and a free pass if you are a Fredhead!

Welcome!

Worry not. Huckabee can’t win the nomination. He’ll be lucky to win in South Carolina. If he doesn’t win there, then the best he can hope for is Arkansas.

I think it’s coming down to a choice between McCain and Romney.

"can we somehow gather together and demand the MSM.."

Sure, but why would the MSM care?

“I think it’s coming down to a choice between McCain and Romney.”

That isn’t a choice, its an admission of defeat!

It is the liberal wish and perhaps money that wants the Republican party to implode, leaving them a clear path to victory and domination. The MSM is part and parcel.
What gets me is that so many supposed conservatives are falling for the bait.
We rant and want an honest candidate, one that will level with us good or bad, one that has integrity. Yet it seems that quite a few will nod and agree to whatever the media feeds them. Polls, editorials parading as news, reporters selling their positions instead of giving facts.
Whatever happens at the end of this we all will have to live with for a long time. Heres hoping that people begin to wake up.

Good post. Unfortunately, Saturday or “Super Tuesday”, may determine the direction of the country for the next 4 years.

The MSM bias issue has been around for a long time. It’s just somewhat recently there were other outlets to combat it with. The situation now kind of resembles 1976, where a moderate Republican ran against a “common man” democrat, as portrayed by the MSM, who turned out to be a flaming Liberal in “populist” clothing. 4 years later, after a painful economic period and disastrous foreign policy, Ronald Reagan was elected.

The difference between now and then is potential terrorist attacks against the homeland. I don’t know how that will play out.

I still have faith, but am fearful that the American voting population has become so gullible to the MSM, they have to go through another terrible period in history in order to remember their core values.

Don’t worry. I’m not giving up. As for Poland, if you don’t like the libs or MSM in the US, you wouldn’t survive a week in Poland. Is your father-in-law still alive? I lived in Warsaw for 10 years.

Hey, I quit watching network news about fifteen years ago, maybe longer. It finally struck me, as I watched Tom Brokaw, the they (MSM) were telling us how to think. Bernie Goldberg's books hit the nail on the head.

We finally got a say or at the very least, an opinion in the news when Foxnews came on, but lately I feel they too have left us and have gravitated toward the left. Yes, they have conservatives such as Hannity, O'Reilly, Gibson, Kilmeade, Doocy and Hume but the balance leans left and is becoming, like the letter netwrks, shills for the democrats.
