Finally I can get a good night’s sleep tonite. I can rest easy knowing the McCain/Huckabee express has been stopped dead in its tracks (for the moment). Although one must be hypervigilant in case they somehow rise from the dead. It ain’t over till its over. Hope Romney gets a good night’s sleep tonite too. He look dog tired on TV when he gave his victory speech. Happy, but pooped. Now, if Thompson can pull it off in SC, then there will be stakes through the heart of the McQueeg/Huckster tag team. Finis.

Did they endorse it at first, or after the fact? I believe that they opposed it at first.

NRA usually sends out panic alerts that a bill MUST be stopped. If it is not, they brag about their compromise, then later, suggest that it’s a good thing.

Brady Instant Check, GCA 68, and NFA are prime examples. With NFA, the brag is that the original bill included handguns, and NRA compromised it out.

.Sorry. You can take a look at this nation today and ask yourself what voting for RINOs has gained you

It has gained us eight years without a second '9/11'. It has gained us a great Conservative Surpreme Court Justice and maybe two.

It has gained us and incredible Military that it's soldiers are proud of and they proud to 'serve in'; while America continues to be it's beneficiary.

These past eight years have gained us a fairer taxation. We have not been incorporated into the UN; nor a 'world government'; nor are we part of the Kyoto Treaty; nor are we functioning at a 'no growth 'Green' level - we are not yet riding bikes to school or work; and we can still 'debate' Global Warming; and we still have Conservative talk radio.

Parent's can still 'home-school' their children; and most can still decide what their kids can take to school - for lunch - in their lunch bag.

As American's; we live with incredible prosperity; abundance and choices. And despite all our problems;and according to polls; most American's are happy with their lives; and economically; are OK.

And this is just a quick, short list. . .but would venture to say; had we had a Lib/Demrat/Leftist working 'their way'; from the top. . .down; few of the above observations would apply, today.

I don’t know about “best”... I still rank Rush as #1.... but, I put Prager as a close 2nd... and, intellectually, maybe even #1.

I LOVE Dennis!

OK, THIS Conservative supports him - and I’m not a troll, bot or paid shill..nor a RINO liberal.

Romney may not be the ‘ideal’ choice, but he’s a heck of a lot better than ANY of the (R) alternatives.

I will NOT (under ANY circumstances) support McCain or Guliani. (Gang of 14, anyone? Illegal immigration? Social liberals?)

None of the rest can win.

Unless we want the Hildabeast or the Muslim in the WH, we’d better rally behind Romney and just get it done..

The assualt weapons ban has been seen as very ineffective. What it has become is a political football for people to use to bash their opponents.

The bill would have passed in Mass anyway, so Mitt went to the legislature and the NRA and got it to actually help gun owners in Mass. He tackled the morass of Mass gun laws in the process.

I give him an A on the issue.

I have sympathy for Fred supporters, but fred is not looking too healthy. Very big and overweight.... not a good omen.... a president needs energy, must be fit.

I dont want to pick Fred, and then find out in August or September that hes had a stroke.

I prefer he be in the VP slot with Romney as POTUS.

Yeppers, since the moderator cofirmed that fieldmarshaldj doesn’t speak for FR, he most probably does not speak for the South either. The last I looked, he’s not even speaking for himself as he asked to have all his posts on this thread removed... doesn’t want to deal with the replies, I guess....

Fieldmarshaldj, it’s high time you had a dose of your own medicine.

What did they gain for their permanent ban?

Who knows. All I know is Romney could have stepped aside and said, hey I got an 85% opposing legislature here. Instead he jumped in and made some very good changes. He doesn’t just talk, he gets in there and makes real changes.

He is a unique politician.

One of the things that bothered me about Romney happened in one of the debates. When the question of taxes was raised he said something along the lines of “I don’t worry about tax cuts for the the $100K+ bracket”. That struck me as pandering at the most base level.

Good for Mitt. My second choice.

Now that he’s knocked McCain down, and Huckabee finished a distant third, that should open up a chance for Fred to take the gold in South Carolina.

But it was over for Romney!!!!.

Yes, the guy just wouldn't listen to the Fox panel repeatedly telling him it was time to get out. Chris Wallace arguing with one of Romney's staffers one night that he had to get out because he was finished. The media is against the people and America.

Boy you really got to work hard to come up with a reason not to support Romney.

Btw, who was he pandering to?

I think it’s a pretty smart to hesitate supporting someone who isn’t concerned with tax policy with regards to the $100K+ earners.

That’s pandering to the same group that the democrats love to pander to with regards to class warfare—those that think of anyone that works hard and is financially rewarded has “won Life’s lottery.”
