NUEVO LAREDO, Mexico (Reuters) - At a Catholic-run shelter just across the border from Laredo, Texas, dozens of Latin American migrants say grace and tuck into a hearty meal of sausages, beans and rice, before trying to swim across the Rio Grande into the United States.
Weary migrants on their journey north often recharge their batteries at a network of similar shelters run by the Roman Catholic Church -- a lifeline sanctioned by the Vatican, despite increased U.S. efforts to keep out illegal immigrants.
"Migration is a human right and migrants are some of the world's most vulnerable people. It is the church's obligation to help them," said the Rev. Francisco Pellizzari, an Italian-Argentine missionary who runs the Nazareth migrant shelter in Nuevo Laredo.

However, it's the policy of their church to support that effort...and to provide support to illegals once they arrive.

Interesting observation regarding the lack of Baptists on that list. Given that, you'd think that Huckabee's "Y'all come on in" attitude toward illegals would really stick in the craw of many an evangelical. Maybe they're really Methodists at heart, eh?

Their POLICY is that all immigrants are the same, legal or not, and that the Church will assist the assimilation, basic needs and EVEN FIND THEM JOBS.
So they rationalize the demographic warfare waged against our nation, and its taxpayers. In fact it perpetrates theft and fraud against our communities and against our taxpayers who must pay for the services provided to illegal aliens.
Not only are they wrong, they are committing criminal offences, and need to be stopped.
No one should put heir religion before the basic patriotic duty each citizen has to work within our grand experiment, the formation of a more perfect union inside of which religious freedom can be afforded.
To use any religious organization to wage demographic warfare against one's own nation is not only wrong in the eyes of US federal law, it is also wrong in the eyes of God. It does not matter which religion one is, its a sin against God and Country.
The result of such demographic warfare will be the disintegration of our nation so that the fundamental freedoms we now enjoy, will devolve or disappear, including religious freedom.
Therein lies the sin.

One thing I like about the Baptists is that they are, for the most part, very patriotic and big on keeping Government nannying out of religion. There are a few who wear the Baptist figleaf to cover their Fred Phelps type bigoted views toward others, particularly what I call the Taliban Christians who seem more interested in p*ssing on those who differ with their theology than in fighting the real enemy who will take their freedoms and their heads if given the chance.
Conservative Methodists like this poster, are much better about keeping their focus. The liberals among them, however, may be niave and dangerous with their goofy ideas, but you don't find the Taliban types so much among such non-evangelical denomination attempting to exorcise any who disagree with their theology. Accordingly, they are more effective in promoting their politics which includes, unfortunately, flooding America with people from the third world rather than helping them turn their country into a first world country.

I know the Baptists have had a number of splits, so it is hard for me as an outsider to tell which is which without a scorecard.

There are segments of the RCC that are acive in Latin America and every bit as anti American as the democrat, 'vote for me and your're in free' party is here at home.
Your post suggests that activism here in the USA, like that of our own Los Angeles diocese, is equally accepted within the fold.
Fortunately our country is not in the hands of bigots who would try and punish the Catholic Church or try and take away it’s tax exempt status...Oh, there are many who will try but actually trying to pass punitive laws through Congress and then having a President sign them into law will never happen....repeat...NEVER !
This is a nation of laws after all and with a Supreme Court to see that the laws are upheld and applied fairly..
So much for threats of ‘wrath of the State’ and take away the Church’s Tax exemption...That will never happen...

Any pain the Church is feeling has been brought on by themselves.
You know as well as I do that given the opportunity to bash the Church there are many freepers who will be all over that like white on rice.
That is not Church teaching.
None of what Christ says in Matthew 5 gives you or a church or a government official the power or the right to TAKE from ME and give to someone else. That is called stealing.
Don't get me wrong, there are many, many more churches involved in this effort to undermine our borders...but I don't know if any others have official sanction from denominational leadership.
Those laws are just not enforced.
