I’m sure the NYT would love nothing more than if we nominated Fred Thompson. He was good tonight, but he has no chance in the general.

So you believe Giuliani, Romney and McCain have the best chance? Why so they can appeal to liberal Democrats? The Reagan coalition can win another for the gipper. The GWB election strategy is headed for the dustbin of history. There is a reason people cheered Zell Miller, there is a reason people cheered Thompson tonight. Speaking the truth is powerful. Save those candidates with liberal envy for last. We will worry about winning the general when it comes to that.

Obama and Hillary(do I need to mention Edwards?) are both deeply flawed candidates. We can take them apart like John Kerry. Obama has his albatross in Kerry now as does Hillary with Bill. There liberalism is on display and what we need more than anything is a GOP candidate who highlights the differences not the common ground with these radical liberals.

Yeah Right.... “If we would only nominate someone who has more in common with liberal Democrats, like Romney, Rudy, Huckabee or McCain. I’m sure the conservatives would turn out to vote in droves. (Heavy Sarc.)

The fact is, Thompson is the only candidate who does not alienate at least one third of the Reagan coalition.

I attended one of the very early campaign mini speeches of Regan. It was at one of the conferences attended by Jesse Owens, etc. Be “all you can be” type of speeches.
Regan did not do well in this early outing, sort of like Fred. Only when he got mad and “I paid for this microphone” set him apart did he find his footing.
Fred found his “footing” last night.

He is the only man that can unite the Party and defeat the dims. If you listened to luntz’s focus group last night... the others ARE TOO LIBERAL. Even moderates know a great man like Reagan when they see him.

I beg to differ.
If/when it becomes a choice between Hillary!/Obama or Fred.......FDT will be our next president!

How do you know? Neither do the others "in general" unless Obama is the Dem nomination.

That has to be one of the most disingenuous editing jobs I’ve ever seen. I’m a HUGE fan of Thompson. But starting out with “Fred Thompson tried...”, leaving off that the sentence was about how his campaign is (supposedly) dead... that’s beyond the pale.

In a debate with Hillary he would wipe the floor with her. Just which of these guys do YOU think is most "electable?"

I'd rather have a true conservative in the mold of Hunter or Thompson as the Republican standard-bearer than try to run our liberal against their liberal. Elections are about contrasts and giving the public real choices. Picking between two liberals is not a valid option. There can be no excitement generated to encourage people to get out and vote if there's not a dime's worth of difference between the candidates.

I'd rather vote for the true conservative and take my chances on the rest of the general public agreeing with me. It worked for Reagan. The parallel you're advocating would compare to the Carter/Ford election. If you have two liberals, why not vote for the Democrat one because at least they support their party platform.

Don’t count out FRED!

He won the debate. Stay tuned as the REAL conservative starts to speak out!

Fred is the only viable candidate with a consistently conservative record. He would be a clear alternative to the Democrat nominee.

Those who now are supporting others in the nomination process would find no legitimate reason to refuse to support him as the nominee, if he continues to present this type of strong showing of conservative ideals as he did in the SC debate.

His nomination provides motivation for conservatives - some of whom are considering not voting - to join the battle, because he does offer that clear conservative choice.

He can win. We can make it happen.

In the general election he would only be facing two liberals instead of the twelve now staring down his barrel.

You are wrong. That is exactly what the DB MSM want you to believe...FRED can’t win...got in too late...yadda, yadda, no fire in the belly.

FOLKS, we have only had 2 caucus and 1 primary, this is a long way from over. If you want FRED to be your President, now is the time for your support! If not now, when? FRED can beat any democrat they put up. And he would much prefer to tear a democrat apart than a fellow Republican. However, when it needs to be done, it must be done. Nothing personal, it the truth people must be told.

FRED THOMPSON - NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERIENCE (I’ll protect the American people and American values, whatever it takes to stop the Islamic-Fascists including water-boarding!) - 2ND AMENDMENT ADVOCATE (“Individual” rights to protect their homes and property!)

INCREASE THE MILITARY’S STRENGTH AND SIZE (Diplomacy through Strength and verification!)

SECURE AND SEAL THE BORDERS (Don’t give sanctuary anywhere to illegal’s; don’t employ illegal’s; don’t rent to illegal’s; don’t extend credit to illegal’s; don’t give illegal’s rights they have no right to; report all crimes committed by illegal’s to ICE and immediately deport those illegal’s who have already committed crimes against America!) LAW AND ORDER (Enforcement of our current laws regarding illegal immigration!) – DENY FEDERAL DOLLARS TO SANCTUARY CITIES (Enough is enough!)

CONSERVATIVE JUSTICES FOR SUPREMES (Great progress has been made on the Supreme Court in Bush’s term. FRED was asked by President Bush to spirit Justice Roberts through the confirmation process. The next President will probably have the opportunity to seat two additional Justices. This is huge folks. FRED will nominate Justices who will interpret the Constitution, not create rights that simply do not exist and legislate from the bench!) – PRO-LIFE ADVOCATE (will strive to nominate superior Justices with the eventual goal of overturning Roe vs Wade)

THOMPSON PLAN TO REDUCE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SPENDING (Check out his detailed plan to reduce Federal spending!)

SOCIAL SECURITY REFORMER (Social Security is an entitlement program that will soon overtake the budget. The program can’t sustain itself and will bankrupt future generations; FRED has detailed proposals to save Social Security and provide the added benefit of private savings accounts for younger workers!)

DEFEAT ANY DEMOCRAT OR RINO (Close your eyes and imagine the first debate between FRED THOMPSON and ANY liberal DemocRAT they put up?)

TAX SIMPLIFICATION (Reform and perhaps eliminate the IRS with a variety of choice for the tax payer!)

EDUCATION (Return education to the States. It is that simple. The NEA is the greatest enemy of our educational system!)

WON’T PUT UP WITH TRUTH MANIPULATION FROM THE DB-MSM (including stupid questions by liberal moderators, and “purchased” political pundits)

FRED THOMPSON IS THE “WE THE PEOPLE” CANDIDATE (We the People asked him to set aside his personal life and step up one more time for his Country…and he stepped up!)

THIRD IN IOWA, SECOND IN WYOMING (MSM still calling it a tie with McCain’s name in the lead…FoxNews won’t even mention his name if they can find a way to avoid it!)

TOTAL DELIGATES: 6 “FRED” ain’t DEAD, enough said!

WINNER OF SOUTH CAROLINA JANUARY 10, 2008 DEBATE – HANDS DOWN!!! (In lieu of the airtime FoxNews chose to give him…or not give him as the case may be. WE THE PEOPLE notice garbage like that!)
