Given that McCain was going to win, the number of votes that Romney got compared to those below him is very impressive.

For the same reason Giuliani has gotten Pat Robertson’s, Sean Hannity’s, and Brit Hume’s report.

They’re deceived or never were real conservatives in the first place.

Romney is a first rate nanny-stater.

I wouldn’t vote for any ticket that included Giuliani in either capacity. I would be open to any of the other Republican candidates as a VP for Thompson.

I’m not saying these things to hurt anyone,I really believe we’re facing a tough election at an extremely dangerous time in our nation, and I believe Rudy can beat Hillary.

"It looks like the best conservatives can get is a Romney/Hunter Ticket.”

I would be happy with Romney/Hunter or Romney/Thompson. My dream would be Thompson/Hunter, but I can’t see it from here.

I think the Democrats are impeach happy and could even do worse. So that is why you want them to dislike the Vice-President more than the President. Bush-Cheney got this right. Impeach Bush and you get Cheney. So they tried to go after Cheney first, but have not been able to pull it off. That protects Bush. Nixon should have done everything within reason to keep Agnew. With Agnew as sitting VP, Nixon would not have been driven out of office, IMO.

Romney as VP to Thompson could prove to be a problem. It would be like Reagan-Bush. The press would have loved to impeach Reagan and bring in Bush next. Fortunately, they couldn’t pull it off.

If the ticket becomes Thompson/Romney (not bad), Thompson will have to be Mr. Clean. Romney should actively push causes that liberals hate. That would make him obnoxious to liberal eyes, and discourage impeachment proceedings against Thompson. Quayle did this by pushing for deregulation, making him less popular than President Bush.

Funny. Must have been a Republican sofa, with their votes showing below. Hillary wouldn’t like that!

Anybody have a current delegate count for the Candidates?

CNN is reporting it as follows (86% reporting):

          Votes % Delegates
McCain 75,583 37% 7
Romney 64,331 32% 4
Huckabee 22,557 11% 1

You mean Rudy at the top and Fred under him? I don’t think Fred would go for that.

I’m not too sure about that... I think the Independents out there are smarter than that... Especially with all the dirt there is on Clinton, and the questions surrounding Obama. You could be right, but I would hope and pray not, obviously.

I can. A technique I figured out from years of Freeping on nights like this!

Smart :-). I've had the radio on, but it's not the same. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

ooo. I love it.

A real conservative for president, and a guy with a New York accent and an Italian name for the women.

or,

A real conservative for president, and someone who looks good in lipstick and a blonde wig for the alternative lifestyle folks.

hmmm. Maybe you have something there.

Fred did not attempt to compete in NH. It's too liberal.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I suspect Fred is McCain's running mate. He knew McCain had a lock on NH, and went ahead to haul some water for McCain in SC, where McCain is not well liked by Republicans.

McCain needs to learn how to whistle Dixie. I think he's tone deaf.

So far, 200,000+ turnout in the Republican primary.

I would have never have believed that.

MHGinTN sees that the night was a good one for Romney and so must attack with the usual poisonous blather.

By the way, Hillary and Obama going at one another throughout this primary season is very good for Republicans, especially after this rather suspicious reversal.
