Of course if he did that, it would help, but he won’t do that, which is really the point.
To: STARWISE
I think the public will look past that because this is old news .
To: patriciamary

Romneys Smashing Success
January 7, 2008
Mitt Romney picked a great time to come up with a solid homerun debate performance. Billed as a Presidential Forum, Romney looked presidential and pretty much commanded the roundtable without coming across as petty and vindictive. This is called “coming through at crunch time.”

Fred is winning me over, too. I like that he is calm and thoughtful, and not given over to the excesses of the other potential nominees.

"2) He is a capitalist and I really like that. 3) I think a lot of the hacking at Romney around here is: i) populism not conservatism; ii) religious bigotry; iii) and people that are less than successful in their life and resent his success. They are the same ones that complain about Rushs G5."
My problem with Mitt is that he has not shown consistency in his positions. I also think that his health care plan leans a little two much toward government involvement. The fact that he is a successful businessman is a plus for me. I also see his religion as a plus. (I consider Moron theology to be a little strange, but most Mormons I know are patriotic, pro-family conservatives)

"I have to agree with the comments that say he needs to show some spark"
I don't know if he needs "spark" per se-. I've heard quiet a few people say "the more they hear Fred, the more they like him. He needs more time for people to hear him/see him. He did a lot with the little time he had to work with tonight. What would he have done, if he had the same time as the others?
I want to bug/beg Rush Limbaugh to do a debate of his own- Where he moderates, and gives the candidates equal time. (He could do it on TV or radio) Who would ask better questions than Rush?

Everything you criticize Fred on is sizzle, not steak. He’s about substance. Listen to what the man is saying, not how you perceive it’s being said.

National Review endorsed him. Heritage foundation didn't -- they are attacked because they helped write the original health care legislation for Romney, and said nice things about him regarding the plan.
Paul Weyrich did endorse Romney, and he's associated with the Heritage Foundation.
I'm pretty sure the Heritage Foundation itself doesn't do endorsements.

If it comes down to religion, Huckabee’s the only candidate who has the right religion and the right application to his life. So I hope it doesn’t come down to that.
To: rintense
This is exactly why Fred took a pass on NH. Their idea of conservatism isn’t very.

See 2295 — it was Weyrich, not the Heritage Foundation.
