I am a huge FredHead and I did NOT think Fred did well tonight

It wasn't Fred that did badly, it was the debate. Wallace was terrible. He kept interrupting whenever he wanted with a loud overriding voice.

Wallace didn't let Fred complete his social security answer which started the downward trend of the debate. Fred finally nailed the debate with his immigration answer which was a stroke of genius.

I have been watching the ongoing controversy regarding Fred and the rumor of his "saying he would quit the race soon". I saw that interview on Fox News. Fred did not say he was ready to quit the race. I was real surprised that Fox News lied and CNN picked it up.

The interview was with Fred sitting with his wife in their travel home or a restaurant booth. I have tried to find it but have been unable.

Thank you for the recommendation. The original was good; it’s hard to beat Glenn Ford and Van Heflin.

My mother doesn’t care for Westerns or war movies, but she’s a good Conservative otherwise. : )

What you said! Of course that is merely the tip of the iceberg.

You are making an assumption that Obama has no negatives, he will get all the Dem votes and a good share of the Independents.......Guess again...

But we respect your opinion

"This is a bad issue for Fred to campaign on."

No it is not. Entitlement reform is one of THE biggest issues facing the country. If someone does not make a case for reform, no political mandate will ever be built to address the issue. Fred picks the issues that are important, not the ones deemed popular. A leader will find a way to sell an issue to the public that he deems important to the country.

The Huckster gives me a little vomit reflex. Not pretty, but that’s my reaction to the guy.

Fred’s the candidate for me out of the bunch.

I think Mitt did enough, even though I’d rather see McCain win this particular state in Fred’s interest....

For what its worth....Our election process has become a race for celebrity as opposed to electing the best man. Look at what’s happened since the JFK-Nixon debate. It was argued that Nixon “lost” the debate, not on substance, but because he had a five o’clock shadow. It has been the best sound bite, the best looking, the best whatever. The media darling and the media has become the king-maker. If the media decrees, you sit by the sideline ala Hunter and Paul. If you’re a friend of the moderator, you get more “face time” than the other candidate. McCain stabbed the conservatives in the back with legislation, and is the one most often mentioned by Democratic pundits as their “favorite Republican.” Why? Because McCain is the most like them and he is the media darling. If you watch H&C Sean drools over Rudy. The Fox Wanna-Be Stars think Mitts the one. The problem is, unless you’re a Freeper and look beyond the sound bite, we’re looking at electing a “clean, well-spoken” black man based on the fact that he is good looking and the master of the 30-second sound bite. While I firmly believe that FRed is the best qualified, he has to fight an uphill battle and unless he starts fighting for his “face-time,” We’re going to be looking at a long period of the Democrats controlling the White House and Congress.

Time to send him more money.

You know what else was a dead give away about the supposed random voters Fox had watching the debate. They asked the one woman why she didn't like Fred- she said "healthcare"- there were no questions about healthcare.

I really like a Mitt/Fred ticket. Fred would be the best Dick Chaney ever.

~~~
Fred wouldn’t accept 2nd place.
I don’t think that Giuliani looked bored at all, I think that he looked like he was grateful that he got a chance to speak and address the issues and complaints that many of the voters have with his candidacy. I think that too much attention was given to Huckabee, who didn’t really answer the questions, Romney and McCain, who have been battling for first place. The issue for the rest of the country isn’t just between Romney, McCain and Huckabee.
My husband had a problem with Fred Thompson holding his hands in front of his face on the last question, while he was speaking. My husband is always concerned with body language and thought that was terrible.
I don’t think any of the major candidates would take a VP slot. Huckabee or Hunter might.
“Fox News is scrambling to crush the major threat to their agenda..... FRED THOMPSON!!!!!”
What in heaven are you talking about. What “agenda”. Why would Fox News care one way or the other about Fred Thompson? If anything, Fox News has most pushed Guiliani, not Romney, Thompson, or the others. Recently, they have pushed McCain a bit. If anything, they’ve been somewhat anti-Romney and just ignore Thompson. But there are other channels, and other media all over the place, and Thompson just hasn’t caught fire with any of them. Most have ignored Thompson because he isn’t good at selling himself and getting himself out there. You can rail against this with some justification, but being the leader of a country means getting out there and selling yourself bigtime. But Fox News isn’t for or against Fred in any major way. Find another scapegoat for what the voter group in NH tonite decided about Fred’s performance and don’t blame it on Fox News.
Huck is this kind of person:
It is 3AM and I just found out my grandmother sent the guy on channel 43 her entire life savings. She bought her way into heaven. Her heat and water are turned off. I see Huckabee.
That simple.
Let’s see now...
Rudy has more personal baggage than American Airlines.
Mitt’s a bigger flip-flopper than John f’n Kerry.
Huck had four ethics complaints filed against him.
McAmnesty is a Keating Five alumnus.
Fred’s the only one who doesn’t have any major negative the Dems can use against him.
Ro,
You nailed it, The country is living in denial.
All this angst and desire for change, at it's core IMHO is the truth that people know SSI, Medicare etc are about to implode, and they are the sandwich generation and want more handouts to get by i.e. national health care.
When we can't afford it, and haven't fixed what is broken. Is the electorate dysfunctional or what....
