Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #14 Milford, New Hampshire 01/06/08 - Official Discussion Thread
Fox News Channel; Roundtable format
Candidates the gatekeepers are allowing to participating:
I believe they call us neocons. But anyway, I have just as much interest as anyone here in making sure a democrat isn’t elected. In fact, I want to make sure we nominate someone who can BEAT them. You can’t always get what you want.
Mitt Romney is a lot more like Reagan than Fred Thompson. Was Reagan a “flip-flopper” because he was once pro-abortion?
Mitt Romney is a tremendous family man. He believes in the value of hard work. He is a tireless campaigner for what he believes in and is very capable of communicating his ideas. He is for lower taxes and supply-side economics. He believes in a strong national defense and has pledged to spend 4% of GDP on it. He wants to grow our standing military capacity. Sound like anyone you know? Psst.. his initials are RR.
Too bad Gov. Goodhair wonn’t be participating.
Fred hasn’t done enough to help himself either.
Even more, the entire state of NH wrote Fred off when he announced on Leno rather than being in their debate. He’s been polling at around 2% there for months. Today’s Rasmussen in contrast has him within the margin of error for the lead (with 13%).
Just caught some of the Fox All-Star panel and boy are they weak. Not one could actually address any of the points made or not made. Mort gushed at how well Huck did, when Huck stepped in it several times. All any of them could say, other than bashing Fred’s energy, was that they ‘all did fine’. Jeesh!
“Ok, so youre a secular humanist. That speaks volumes. The Republican party is the party of conservatism, both fiscally and socially. Why do you, not being one, think you have a legitimate say in who our nominee is?”
You’re not gonna win without his, or my, support. Why are you trying to alienate potential allies?
You’re right, but if you look at the number of questions asked of Mitt, Huckabee, and McLame, Rooty and Fred were there only to fill up the table. I find it ironic that Luntz’s focus group pegged the meters on the immigration question when Mitt basically repeated what Fred’s been saying since day one.
I’m going now to fred08 to make a donation. SC is coming up soon, and Fred needs to win there.
You’re right about that.
We Iowans look like Rhodes Scholars compared to that group!
I'd give it to them rather than vote Rino. I'd then pray for a Gingrich type 2010 Congressional revolution.
People are falling for superficial traits....when the dem winner pulls a "Allow gays in the military" on day number #2, the people will awake from their slumber.
So that’s what it means to be a sheeple.
I’ve always wondered if I’d ever run across one of those.
I could go for a Thompson/Romney or Romney/Thompson ticket.
What scares me is that I heard that the GOP may try and get Florida’s governor, Charlie Crist as a VP running mate for their nominee since they view Florida’s electorial votes to be critical.
They don’t like him because he didn’t personally kiss every one of their asses like the rest of the lickspittles trying to pass themselves as potential Leaders of the Free World.
His chances will improve if you and others like you vote for him.
The MSM has succeeded in their manipulation of conservatives, if you vote otherwise in your state at this early date.
After Florida, perhaps its time to start moderating your vote.
I’ve really got to question where and how they come up with those people—and how undecided they really were.
We do it every day here on FR. Care to join us?
:-)
“Fake focus group? Why, cause you dont like the results?”
That might be part of it. If they all liked Thompson I wouldn’t complain, would I?
But let’s think about this. Put aside for a moment who the focus group liked. Why have a focus group immediately after a debate? There’s no reason other than they want to influence the outcome.
All I can do is hope enough people are independent minded and will make up their own minds. (I don’t think it’s a stretch.)
The flop comes if he's elected...that's when Slick Willard would run back to his true pro-abortion self.
Tell me who has won the presidency in the last 30 years running as a liberal or moderate? Tell me what Republican can out democrat the democrats?
