Mike Huckabee supporters check in here.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:46:37 PM PST by Arcy

I for one am excited about Huckabee's leading and probably winning in Iowa! Here's a guy who has made REAL income tax reform a high priority of his candidacy. While some of the other candidates have claimed tax reform as part of their plan, non have been more passionate about the need for it and willing to make it a center-piece of their plan for America as Mike Huckabee. I believe that the average American has recognized in Mike Huckabee, a person of integrity and vision, a man who keeps his word, a man of faith, and therfore, is worthy of their support. He certainly has 100% of mine!

Color me angry at the idiocy of my evangelical friends.

I can’t believe this fraud has gotten this far, and I am ashamed at the gullibility of us as evangelicals. Hey, just say Jesus and vote for Huck, don’t pay any attention to that man behind the curtain that has a record contrary to what he says, says anything to be elected, and has true believers for voters.

Congrats, you have started the draft Elmer Gantry movement.

Please stoop to have sucker stamped on your foreheads.

BTTT.

The biggest problem is all those pardons. How do you get around that? We’re not talking exoneration by DNA testing. We’re talking about thinking you know better than juries on a massive scale.

Uh, no.

When someone goes from comparing people who violated our generous immigration laws to blacks brought here in chains and says that God has given us a second chance to get it right to saying no amnesty and seal the border it’s called a flipflop, pop.

“I want a President who believes in our sovereign country; believes in a strict interpretation of the Constitution, whose character and life is informed by faith, but who knows the difference in leading a nation and leading a congregation.”

Good post.

Maybe a President that understands what is necessary in order to keep our freedom to practice our faith alive?

Dumb, stupid mistakes. Misguided at very best and, sadly, fatal at worst. If he wants to be president I hope he has gained some perspective and some wisdom on this score. That’s why I need to know more.

When I hear moderation from anyone with a ‘R’ after their name - they do not and will not get my vote

I assume that applies to McCain, Romney and Giuliani, too?

“I think when it looks as if Huckabee may end up winning the nomination, many of those attacking him will, begrudgingly, accept him.”

You are quite mistaken. Huckabee would lose all 50 states + D.C.

Do you not think that Religion and Theology is not the same?

There are some overlaps but the DEGREE is not the same. A degree in Religion does not give you the necessary course work required to receive a degree in Theology ( which is more rigorous). Al Gore himself dropped out of seminary from Vanderbilt.

Huckabee had a Bachelor of Arts in religion and a minor in communications in his undergraduate work.

To get a theology degree requires finishing a degree in seminary and showing mastery of Greek, Hebrew, New and Old Testament studies, etc.

He did go to Soutwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, but did he finish with a degree ? If not, did he give the impression that he had a theology degree ? If so, that's less than honest.

Huckabee, agree with him on the issues or not, was spectacular on Tonight Show last night. He is articulate, genuine and very funny.

So was Jay Leno, so lets nominate him instead.

In Baptist schools, you do get course work in Greek, Hebrew, New and Old Testament studies.

I believe that we are splitting hairs.

I am not a Huckabee supporter, but I am a defender.

“I don’t know why he’s gotten such hatred here.”

In state tuition for illegals.

Pardons of hardened criminals.

For starters.

Congratulations on your candidate winning in Iowa.

Huckabee has surged because he won a couple of debates and he’s got evangelical support. If a quick rise can happen to the liberal pro-life evangelical Huckster, it can happen to the conservative pro-life evangelical Hunter.

I do not know Duncan Hunter’s strategy. However, he may yet surprise us even before New Hampshire. Because he has campaigned in Wyoming, which has a race before New Hampshire, and no one else is campaigning there.

Then there’s New Hampshire. Hunter’s already there while everyone else wraps up in Iowa.

The difference between his flip-flop and others is that I actually believe he will keep his word.

Let me clarify. Fred is a lawyer and Roe v. Wade, as any thinking person, let alone lawyer, will tell you---Roe v. Wade was very bad law. And it was law legislated from the bench. The Constitution does not give a right to have an abortion and does not need to be amended to preclude it. Furthermore, an amendment would not pass and would take years if it did--which it would not in today's climate. Fred has consistently voted prolife in the senate.

What is needed is more conservative judges appointed, which I believe Fred, a Federalist, would appoint. Liberals have pushed the envelope on abortion until a viable life is allowed to be snuffed out on the whim of a mother wo can't be bothered to have the baby and give it up for adoption. Congress has made laws curbing abortion, but lib judges keep ruling for ever more liberal abortions. Right now, I believe the abortion rate is falling from what I have heard.

The key is more conservative courts and congresscritters.
