WASHINGTON (CNN) Texas Rep. Ron Paul refused to rule out a third party bid Sunday if he fails to win the Republican Party presidential nomination.
When Tim Russert of NBCs 'Meet the Press' asked the Texas congressman if hed consider an independent bid, he replied: "I have no intention of doing that."
When pressed by Russert to state unequivocally that he would not, Paul demurred. "I deserve one weasel wiggle now and then, Tim!"
Paul lost to Phil Gramm in the 1984 Texas Republican primary for the U.S. Senate. Four years later, he ran for president as the Libertarian Party nominee.
The Republican presidential contender who has an intensely loyal national following is pulling in record fundraising sums, prompting speculation that he may continue his White House bid even if he does not fare well among Republican primary voters.
Paul is currently averaging single-digit showings in most recent surveys of GOP voters nationally and in early-voting states.

Ron Paul proving his word is not worth piddle. He has told us several times he promised his wife he would not run as an independent. What type of man then wavers on a promise to his wife of that magnitude?

Very few republicans will support this double talking bottle head frail senile man with Elmer Fudd features and a feminine lisp to lead the most powerful country in the world.

Ask Bill Clinton, he’s broken even more important promises.

Someone’s working hard to puff up his ego - and at 2% of the Republican vote - it’s NOT us... The MSM seems oddly uninterested in who is giving him the cash...

if does this, does he take any republican voters with him ? This would help the eventual Republican nominee. On the other hand, if Huck does this, this country is effed.

He’ll have trouble running his campaign from the locked ward of a psychiatric hospital which is where he desperately needs to be.

He will run on the Cuckoo Bird Third Party ticket.
Judging from some responses on this forum, there are enough supports of this individual to help put Hitlery in the White House.

Perot appealed to Republicans, Democrats, and mostly Independents. Ron Paul appeals to mostly KOOKS from what I’ve seen.

The leftist moonbats love him. It’s not just the MSM trying to sabotage the Republican party. I see him linked on peacenik web sites, right next to Truthout and the like.
But he will also pull a certain number of “conservative” libertarians to vote for him, too, I’m afraid. I’m not sure which party would be hurt more.

No, that won't be a problem for him. Since this fella is serving as his campaign manager...
"I sent Dr. Demento all my money I usually spend on my french fried taters. It's a crazy time to live these here days, and we needs a crazy guy. It's about time America elected a President someone who's just like me. I'm Karl Childers, and I approve this message. Uh huh."

"I deserve one weasel wiggle now and then, Tim!"That was pretty good.
I wonder if he was trying to raise the mental image of someone else?

if does this, does he take any republican voters with him ?Today I saw a car with "Ron Paul Revolution" painted in large block letters on each side....probably a spray can and homemade stencil. A bumper sticker on the rear read "Think Globally, Act Locally". I would put the owner of the car somewhere left of center.

I would say a little more than left of center if they are spray painting their car for this loon. Out of 1000 people you would find no more than 5 foolish enough to spray paint their car for a POTUS candidate. Those that would spray their car probably would make Cindy Sheehan look normal.
