"20 different doctors said it was hopeless, so it's all okay"
And I wonder why so many seem to miss a basic question: Is it right for a government in collusion with medical doctors to kill someone - no matter how "rational" or "compassionate" it may seem?

Team Lachey just won the Choir contest. I really didn’t have a favorite but Patti Labelle’s choir just lost. She must be p-oed.

I bet this kid's parents are nervous. I wonder if this is the patient who needed the bed Paulo Melo was taking up. I wonder how long before somebody else needs the bed.

But wag, it makes calling for the death of another human being so much easier. You don’t have to say, “Let’s kill Paulo.” You only have to say, “Let the vegetable go.”
Disgusting, isn’t it? I cannot imagine the damnation one brings upon him or herself by supporting the killing of others with such flippant, casual and shallow decrees.

Just speculation on your part.
Educated speculation. NONE of us really have firsthand facts in this case.
Of course you are entitled to your speculation and I am entitled to dismiss your comments.
Of course. However, it is troubling that you'll dismiss me out of hand, a fellow FReeper of some tenure and presumably SOME shared values - but will accept some Australian article COMPLETELY at face value.
Maybe some doctor screwed you over before.
Not me personally, but watching others has allowed me (and my family) to mostly avoid issues caused by the normal human foibles that doctors share with the rest of mankind.
Not sure or care what your agenda is.
Must I have an agenda to make these statements? Can't they simply be valid points?
To: beezdotcom
NONE of us really have firsthand facts in this case. Exactly. When liberals jump to conclusions based on prejudices and not having specific facts all of us jump on them. I just think as FReepers we should hold our own to a high standard. You could be entirely right on this but I am just pointing out that your statement that 20 people conspired to result in a single opinion is speculation. We really don't know that to be true. That's all. Take care. Enough of this.

You did see the google book url? Evidentally, that writer believes the RDH is a bad facility for patients and staff. They have ties to the UK who are even ahead of the Aussies re: euthanasia. Euthanasia is illegal in Australia but it appears they are practicing it via the judiciary. Why is it acceptable if judges order euthanasia? Illegal is illegal no matter who orders the forced exit. I wonder if Wesley Smith has opined on Paulo Melo yet. I’ll have to check on that.

This is why a democrat in the white house would be very detrimental. They’re Soros’ puppets all.

Yes, it is speculation, but it is not idle speculation. It is based on observation of similar circumstances, and it doesn't require 'conspiracy' as much as it requires inertia.
Don't take my word for it. Find a doctor that you know on a personal basis, and ask him off the record if it is even possible that within a two week period at a state-run hospital, 20 different specialists would have independently examined the patient and independently arrived at their own conclusions. I think you will receive answers similar to the ones I have received. I have been told that it is most likely that the 20 specialists are simply part of a hospital review board, and do not represent 20 independent evaluations.
Enough of this.
This belies a certain frustration which I'm not sure I have earned.
