WASHINGTON (AP) - Vice President Dick Cheney experienced an irregular heartbeat Monday and will be evaluated at George Washington University Hospital.
The condition was detected when Cheney was seen by doctors for a lingering cough from a cold.
"During examination he was incidentally found to have an irregular heartbeat, which on further testing was determined to be atrial fibrillation, an abnormal rhythm involving the upper chambers of the heart," said spokeswoman Megan Mitchell.
Dealing with a tentative ticker is nothing compared to dealing with Senate Democrats.
The Fox ticker, tells me to pray for the Vice-President’s ticker........
[Yieks! Must you ask? I think it is Nancy!!!! Oh the horror!!!]
I wonder just how she would do as VP for 1 year. Sure would shut her up. Hmmmm. Naw, better not.
I have palpitations a lot. Scares the hell out of me. But I have anxiety pretty bad too. When I have an attack my heart pounds so hard and fast as though I am going to die instantly. It is the scariest thing in the world.
Newswire: After the resignation of Vice President Dick Cheney for health reasons, President Bush today submitted to the Senate his nominee for Vice President, Harriet Miers.
Condi would be my preference as VP in case Cheney steps down, that would give the dem’s an irregular heartbeat, for sure!
True, but if the VP become incapacitated, the President simply appoints another. The Senate would have to ratify, but Nancy would not be in the loop unless the President was incapacitated before Senate ratification.
God forbid we should have that vacant yapping french poodle for president.
Things learned on this thread:
1) Cheney has heart problems
2) Shemp Smith is a drama-queen
This thread has nothing new.
And let Peloser become VP? No way
Perhaps the VP should get another vendors ticker
[groan]
Let's hope you never run across any of those photos of Helen Thomas.
All of them are drive-by media negatives.
Dick Cheney could win, and he would win.
He has taken apart and pounded into little pieces every opponent in every campaign he’s ever been involved in.
He cuts quick, he cuts deep, and he cuts lethal.
“I have wished that Dick Cheney were our candidate for the presidency, but he isnt. He would win. Ive no doubt”
However, lots of folks have irregular heartbeats. Given his history of heart problems, he’s be crazy to run for president. Can’t imagine any doctor approving of it, either.
She's second in line to be President by succession, but she is not first-in-line to be Vice President by succession. There is no succession to the Vice Presidency. It doesn't work that way. The President makes a nomination to be confirmed by the Senate.
I have a couple friends with atrial fib, and if I’m not mistaken, their pacemakers do a sort of defib when the heart is beating erratically.
I know Cheney has a pacemaker, maybe not the defib type?
Prayers for our Vice President and the Cheney family said.
Maybe his health is the reason he decided not to run for President. If so I forgive you. You would have made a kick ass president.
He need only stay alive 4 years at a time.
And pick a great VP.
:>)
Go figure...a good and decent man like Cheney has continuous heart issues. Fred Thompson has/had cancer that’s hopefully in remission for a long time. Evil, socialist, bit$$ Hillary keeps on ticking without missing a beat. Probably live to see 100! Same for Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Dean etc...
I suspect this is an on-going condition that has been treated all along. My husband has it. Can be serious but doesn’t have to be. Can be treated pharmaceutically up to some point; they use pace-makers for it in severe cases. Doesn’t he already have a pace-maker?
