Are you going to vote in the November 2008 election no matter who wins the Republican primary?

Posted on 11/25/2007 5:29:03 PM PST by cradle of freedom

I would like to know if you are going to vote in the November 2008 election even if your candidate does not win. Will you stay home if you don't like the Republican candidate?

Another thing that I have often wondered about is whether people actually stay home when they are disheartened. News commentators often say that some voters may have decided to stay home because they were not happy with the candidates. I think that is a mistake because even if you do not like the person at the top of the ticket you should at least vote for the other candidates. Have you every actually stayed home and not gone to the polls at all because you were not happy with a candidate?

I will certainly vote.

I will vote for the GOP candidate for president, as long as it is not Giuliani.

If the GOP candidate is Giuliani, I will vote third-party.

I did once after George "read my lips" Bush blew his four years in office. Didn't like the results.

Every "stupid white guy" I know who voted for Perot in 1992 regrets it tremendously. Those idiots put Clinton in the Oval Orifice.

Here's a thread I bookmarked from long ago. It made an impression on me. Since you've stated that there's no difference between Hillary and Rudy being elected, I'm wondering if you'd take a look at it and give it a go?

Seems to me the “lesser of two evils” is not a philosophy, it’s a reality.

We live with it every day.

Careful now, you may be projecting...

Don’t give up.

You will never convince morons, true. But many others who are seriously contemplating the points are reading and thinking things over. State your points for them. They’re reachable.

No problem, thanks for sharing that with us.....lol.

It does take people like yourself (that confuse ego with values and principles) to help elect a liberal.

Rudy, and his other liberal Apologists thank you...lol!! P.S. So does Hillary.

“Seems to me the “lesser of two evils” is not a philosophy, it’s a reality.”

“We live with it every day.”

I understand what you mean, but some how some way we have to change the mindset.

Living in Washington State I feel the same way sometimes. But one can only hope - some day...... (I also grew up a Minnesota Vikings fan so maybe that explains why I still hope for the impossible!)

It’s never too much trouble to speak the truth!

Yeah, many won’t listen. But some reading the thread will appreciate having the counterpoints. So, carry on. :)

I asked you kindly to stop with the unnecessary yelling (capitalization). It makes it difficult to read your posts.

I don’t know about you, but my “conservative identity” (as you termed it) is going nowhere. It’s not dependent upon the Republican Party and I’m not looking to politics for my salvation.

Those committed to conservative ideals are committed. Period. And ideas matter. They will find a way. If it isn’t through the Republican Party, so what?

The people splitting the party are those refusing to participate in the party’s sole purpose: electing candidates so that the party can gain in influence and then be able to elect even “better” candidates.

Please check your facts.

Do you not know that—tragically—a huge number of self-proclaimed “evangelicals” actually voted for Bill Clinton, twice, thus giving him the presidency with less than 50% of the popular vote?

Do you actually believe that millions of people who consider themselves part of the “Christian right” will walk away from their opportunity and obligation to stop a greater evil?

Did this so-called “lesson” take the last times it was tried?

Because of the hope I have that a Pubbie will nominate strict constructionist judges, I’ll vote Republican against the Dems; unless the nominee is someone despicable like Chuck Hagel of Nebraska or Olympia Snowe of Maine. Then, I’d have to look at the minor party candidates.
