Ron Paul raises $9 million in 2 months

In another sign of Rep. Ron Paul's online fundraising prowess, the Republican presidential candidate from Texas said in a TV interview Friday that he has raised more than $9 million during the past two months and expects to raise a total of at least $12 million for the fourth quarter.

Paul, speaking on Bloomberg Television's "Political Capital with Al Hunt," said he considers his recent fundraising success "astounding."

He added that his campaign plans another "special" fundraising day Dec. 16. On Nov. 5, Paul supporters raised $4.3 million, one of the biggest single-day showings of any candidate in history.

Paul still came in 3rd in a poll restricted to past GOP convention delegates.

“If we want to get a Democrat in the White House next year, we need a divided Republican party. The only candidate on the enemy’s side disrupting neo-con group-think is Ron Paul. If we donate to him on the 16th of Dec. and attempt to support him in the primaries, he can force Mr. 9/11 on the defensive and make him spend much more money to win the primaries. His fundraising is surging, and his poll numbers are trending upward. He clearly has some momentum, and that’s scaring the pants off the neo-con establishment.

Divide and conquer the Republican party my friends! Donate money to Ron Paul on the 16th of December and register Republican for the primaries to vote Paul, then back to Democrat afterwards. This will accomplish many things:

1. It will divide the party further and create an ideological insurgency within the party.

2. It will show our Democratic front runners that being anti-war is a winning issue this year, we don’t have to be neo-con-lite like Hillary to win. We don’t need to stay in Iraq till 2013.

3. It will dry up the resources of Republican frontrunners and weaken their support for neo-con issues like invasion of privacy, torture, the war, and more.

4. It will completely scare the crap out of the party establishment, and they’ll likely go into crisis mode to stop Paul.”

Ron Paul gets support from many segments of society: Conspiracy Theorists, Racist Neo-nazis, Liberals, Democrats, Greens, Libertarians...He just can’t get support from REPUBLICANS.

Ron Paul will not “win” in the traditional sense (ie getting sworn into office as POTUS) but he can score a bigger win by slapping statists and populists in the GOP around for amusement.

This kind of cash insures that he will be there for the duration to do just that.

I don’t worry about how much money he raises, or even where it is coming from. Many of Paul’s ideas will never fly with the vast majority of conservatives, and money won’t change that.

Exactly. Paul's support is from the left. A recent polled asked who would Republicans never support under any circumstance. Paul scored highest with 61%.

According to this recent CNN Poll, Paul has the highest negatives,

OK. If that's true and you want to put a quick end to Ron Paul, just go on these forums and start praising Paul for being pro-life, pro-borders and US sovereignty, anti-tax, anti-global warming hysteria and anti Gubmint entitlement programs.

AuntB, I know and respect you from the various border threads. On this matter, you simply do not know what you are talking about.

1. Illegal aliens are not hugely popular in Texas. They are hugely unpopular.

2. Paul has been and is strongly against illegal aliens. He has written about this extensively and sponsored and co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation of that issue, such as ending birthright citizenship.

3. The Texas straw poll was restricted to party insiders (recent convention goers, elected officials, and maybe a few others). As a 30 year Republican primary voter, I was not allowed to vote.

The Texas Republican Party is free to conduct its polls however it wants, but if all that it wanted to know was who its insiders supported, there were much simpler ways to go about it. This poll tells no one anything about what is likely to happen in the Republican primary. Those who claim that this poll somehow means that Ron Paul can't win the Texas primary are either ignorant or being disingenuous.

Ron Paul has never produced one piece of effective legislation that did anything to control illegal immigration. In fact Paul has never gotten any of his legislation through the process. Ever. He has NO support or endorsement from his congressional colleagues. His claim of small government is just that, nothing but a claim.

Ron Paul has proved he can’t ‘govern’. He has a zero record of accomplishments, except for pushing 1876 bills others wrote through congress. Small government guy?

Now take a look at Ron Paul, who claims many ‘accomplishments’ and would never vote for any frivolous, unconstitutional bill!

Statistics: Ronald Paul has sponsored 346 bills since Jan 7, 1997, of which 341 haven’t made it out of committee (Extremely Poor) and 0 were successfully enacted .(Average, relative to peers).
