Cheering crowd attends disputed ordination of two women as priests

ST. LOUIS — To the Roman Catholic Church, the ceremony was not an ordination. In fact, it wasn't even Roman Catholic. But to two women and the approximately 600 people who came to cheer them on, history was made Sunday in St. Louis as the two became the first women ever in the city to be ordained as Catholic priests.

And the first ever, perhaps in the world, to be ordained in a synagogue.

Rose Marie Hudson, 67, of Festus, and Elsie Hainz McGrath, 69, of St. Louis, were ordained as priests by an organization called Roman Catholic Womenpriests, which defines itself "as an international initiative within the Roman Catholic Church."

Not only is the Archdiocese of St. Louis upset about the women participating in an ordination ceremony, but the church and others in the interfaith community were upset that the Central Reform Congregation, in the Central West End, hosted the event.

"The event of today is really very sad because the name Roman Catholic has been misused and misapplied," said Dr. Lawrence J. Welch, a Kenrick-Glennon Seminary theology professor. "There's been no ordination of Roman Catholic priests. In fact, there has been a profaning of something Roman Catholics believe is very sacred."

Blinded by feminism's empty promises, these women denigrate apostolic succession. I find it also telling that none of the terms; Ordination, Priest, Bishop, etc. were captured in " " (quotation marks) or otherwise designated as being alleged by the Post Dispatch. Its telling, but not in any way surprising from that liberal rag which is no friend to the Church or to Archbishop Raymond Burke. None of these or other true Catholoc eccslesiastical terms applies to this abomination. What a sad day indeed.

It's a side show. The Montanists did similar stuff back in the 200s.

And how many Montanists live in your parish nowadays?

Isn’t the Central Reform bunch a secular front for strictly nominal Jewry?
Maybe they should more properly join the Ethical Society.

This is not a recognized Ordination at all.

Has as much value as the Nobel Peace Prize, I'd say......

This also says a lot about the state of journalism today. When a transvestite is referred to by the pronoun of his or her pretend gender, when babies are referred to as fetuses, and when women who participate in a sham ceremony are termed priests, truth has no meaning in journalism anymore.

Oh, and here’s a shock- the “Catholic Action Network” was “helpful”.

Totally agree, but it smacks you right across the chops when it happens in your hometown. Thanks for weighing in.

These heretics practice Liberation Theology. It looks just like Communism. No surprise there.

I do think this is sad too. It’s pretty much a bid for attention. Seriously, would anyone have attended if there wasn’t a press release?

I was very disappointed that the Jewish temple permitted this. The Archbishop did appeal to a local Jewish council of some sort, but they pointed out that they had no jurisdiction over individual temples or synagogues, although they did issue a statement regretting the event.

To steal and apply an old saying, “There may be less to this than meets the eye.”

As a Jew I am upset too. Reform Deformed JINOs should not be permitted to call themselves "Jews". They are Socialists and their dogma is Secular Humanism.

"There's been no ordination of Roman Catholic priests. In fact, there has been a profaning of something Roman Catholics believe is very sacred."

And that's really the whole point of this exercise, isn't it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Pope acting on God's command, makes the rules for the Catholic church. If he says that they aren't catholic priests, then they aren't catholic priests.

Holy Orders don’t need the Pope’s command. They are a Sacrament and therefore Infallible.

I suppose the catholic church is thinking about ordaining some rabbis?
