Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.
Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Danny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."
In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."
"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.
"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."
Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."
Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."

That's an odd assertion, to put it mildly. Do you always blame the victims?
She didn't persecute you! She told you you would be better off as a Christian! Are you persecuting an Arab when you him he would be better off as a Jew????
Jews don't seek to convert others to Judaism. In fact, those who wish to become Jews undergo a rather rigorous program of study, etc., which can take at least a year to complete.
j: I’m sorry to disagree with you on this. She was asked a direct question by the host of the show. She gave a direct, honest and truthful answer. I hope that I, and any Christian, would have the guts to do the same despite the PC police lying in wait for us at every venue nowadays.
“...the country will be better off with no Jews...”
She did not say that. If I said it would be better if people didn’t eat so much fried food, would that be the same as saying that the country would be better off without McDonalds?
Right... and Ditto.
How narrow-minded of you to think only your way is right.
Please don’t preach to me.
LOL!
Silly girl, human beings do not decide who is and who is not, Jewish!
Of course not, she simply said the country would be better off if we all were Christians. In which case there would be no Jews, at least in America, and it would be a better place.
You know that's an old European concept. Not just applied to Jews, but to interdenominational squabbles between Christians.
I'd suggest America is better off for leaving that concept behind.
COULTER: Well, OK, take the Republican National Convention. People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America, they --DEUTSCH: Christian -- so we should be Christian? It would be better if we were all Christian?
COULTER: Yes.
DEUTSCH: We should all be Christian?
COULTER: Yes. Would you like to come to church with me, Donny?
My bad, the reply was supposed to be to post 1. It was a quote from the article.
I never said that her comments were offensive to ME. I can guarantee that I've heard "Jesus is L-rd" or "Jesus is the Messiah" or "you'll burn in Hell unless you believe in Jesus" far more times that you'll ever hear the other end of it - and I let it roll off my back. Others, however, either don't or can't. Ann isn't stupid, and she knows this. However, she either doesn't care (which is her choice, and I DON'T condemn her for it) or cannot control her mouth. Either way, and regardless of how I feel about the substance of her comments, it is my belief that she only hurts her pet causes by mouthing off as she does.
You could be a Jewish apostate, aka heretic.
Now you're going to get numerous posts explaining why Jews don't get to decide who is Jewish.
I don’t object to her stating the substance of what she said (even though the media distorted it). That I disagree with the substance is immaterial to my view that she is hurting her cause by stating things the way she does. Though I disagree with her on some fundamental religious issues, on most things I agree with her on the substance of what she talks about. That is why it pains me to see her mouthing off like she usually does (most of the time having zero to do with religion) - because she irritates people, sometimes on purpose, and these people automatically dismiss her AND HER VIEWPOINTS. IOW, I believe that most of the time she’s hurting the conservative cause.
There’s more than one way to skin a cat, and she almost always seems to pick the way that makes the most noise and bothers the most people. Issues of religion and free will have nothing whatsoever to do with my opinion in this matter.
“What Ann said is going to make it 50 times harder to get Jews to change the way they vote.”
That’s called cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Oh, I am sure that religious Christians are applauding her all over for her pronouncement. I see it here in this thread. It is just the rest of the spectrum that takes it differently. All religions want to see the world in the image of their God. The problem for the conservative movement is that Ann Coulter is an icon that those others are urged to rally around. This hit piece has the intention of marginalizing her and all of her writings. Do you think that it is an accident that this piece comes out now? Rush is attacked, Savage is attacked, and others. This is an organized attack on the voices of the conservative movement to characterize them as extremist, unstable, and undesireable.
This whole discussion takes conservatives away from their message. It is unfortunate that usually solid posters on FR are buying into this nonsense and wasting bandwith on it. When Coulter speaks out again but on other issues that this will be brought up again and again and used like a baseball bat to silence her- and by proxy us.
I don’t see how your comments have anything to do with my post. I was merely saying that I don’t feel threatened when Christians say they would like Jews to convert.
The link is trying to open a real player to start the audio.
To find it go to the EWTN multimedia menu then to audio archive and look up “MOSS” and it the last item on the first page of the search. It works for me!
And her book sales soar!
How about folks who aren’t either Christian or Jew?
Granted, we may not be worth spit in a bucket to SOME Republicans, but damn.....
Sure does make you think hard about where you feel welcome and who has your best interests at heart.
