>> If DH is such a non-starter, why so much effort aimed at keeping him down?

Nobody’s aiming to keep Duncan Hunter down ... he’s already down.

Those of us pointing Hunter’s lack of electability are simply trying to get conservatives to unite around a single, electable candidate (Thompson) so as to avoid the nomination of Rudy Giuliani due to a splintered conservative vote (between Thompson, Romney, Huckabee, Hunter, Tancredo, etc).

I thought Hunter came off as more of a champion of the causes the people are for.

He stays Rooty goes.

I am wondering why someone on FR since 2004 is considered new? Shows people. Oldness isn’t always wise.

deal with it.

Hey. You're the one supporting a candidate who can't break 1% or run a campaign that gets his name out there.

Fred has lots of substance, but some folks don’t care about that; they want flash and dash. Too bad.

Nobody? Then what’s up with the vultures flocking around Hunter threads? Hunter is a social conservative and this is a social conservative forum, so it’s a head scratcher to me why he doesn’t get support. Of course, I’ve seen this site become the de facto gathering place for people with an R in their party choice, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are socially conservative.

Those of us pointing Hunter’s lack of electability are simply trying to get conservatives to unite around a single, electable candidate (Thompson) ....
***We went through the same nonsense with tootyFruityRudy followers. Focus your efforts on the nonconservative candidates. If Hunter stays down, that will be the end of it. I am coming to the conclusion that the reason why there is so much invective aimed at Hunter is because people disagree with him. I saw the same thing on tootyrudy threads, and they wouldn’t own up to it.

I was hoping for more from Fred. He looked weak and inarticulate. And I am on the Fred ping list.

I tell you what. I will not vote for another candidate who can't articulate his views and defend his positions, That is why we are where we are. Romney and McCain were the winners here; and the candidate who is best suited to attack the Democrats will get my vote.

I think it's best we don't shoot ourselves in the foot again!

I posted it to Fawn; JFC .

You..Clara Lou Wrote: Your post is pitiful. Fawn didn't say, "I am coming to the conclusion fred is a bore," someone else did. We wouldn't know that from your post. How ironic, isn't that were Fred Thompson announced his intent to run for President? Could you translate this into English, please?

They know who wrote what... obviously you did not follow the thread, or you would know that I knew that.

JFC wrote :"I am coming to the conclusion fred is a bore,"

Fawn Wrote: " IF you want to be entertained...turn on Jay Leno.".

I , Americanmade1776 , wrote: "How ironic, isn't that were Fred Thompson announced his intent to run for President?"

Do you get the Irony yet, Fawn wanted me to be entertained by watching Jay Leno because JFC thought Fred was a bore, and well Fred Thompson was entertaining us on Jay Leno with his Presidential announcement. ha... Connecting dots is so tiring.

Sorry, dear. This IS Free Republic, and we’re free to say that we think Ron Paul is a kook. You obviously don’t agree, and you’re free to say so.

Well, I'm no math genius, but 8 years is about twice 4 years (approximate; it's more like 3 years), but who's calculating to the fourth decimal point.

Bottom line; if you wanna tell me to go back to Daily Kos, you should do a bit of homework.

And, seeing as you've only been here a couple of years, you can be considered a newbie, also.

Years of experience in the trenches here, which you may understand when you've been here awhile.

I would consider old entrenched liberal Republicans a newbies idea of what is wrong with the conservative party. The winning Reagan party. Not the RINO party of 2006.

In retrospect, I thought Rudy’s attempt at humor, about him being one of the few to “win something” from Clinton about the line item veto, that was serious to him, was a shallow and cheap route to the Clinton factor. As if we’d think that was such a mighty achievement, and that he was so tough.

It wasn’t funny, and it highlighted something that is NOT a positive: that Clinton’s hard to beat.

For you DuncanDonuts, get real. You’re pick has zero electability, and you need to get a grip on that.

You really are a numbnutz one trick pony... the same thing could have been said about Clinton in ‘90 ... and how’d that work out?? The sad thing is you admitted that Hunter is closest to your stances and you’re too much of a coward to support him. Why don’t you grow a pair ... and grow up while you’re at it. Your infantile postings haven’t won a single point all day but you’ve got your head so far up your posterior you haven’t a clue. Go back and read the thread and then make a vow to not be such a vapid jerk in the future... and good luck with that.

That quote will be used to end Romney's candidacy.

Whether in the next debate, the blogs, Rush...or campaign ads. It's over for him. All over that single mistake.

There is no doubt that Ron Paul has struck a chord with disenfranchised voters who are sick of both parties.

Most people I know feel so disenfranchised with government lies, corruption, party hacks and the invasion of this country, I'm surprised they support anyone at this time.

But I know what ya mean.
