You must remember this
A kiss to one we'll miss
A silent sigh and cry
The world will long remember
As Mime goes bye

and the first time I saw him in DC was the first time I felt my first-born move! A whole lot of firsts!

I do a fair imitation of being boxed in, and the walls closing in on me, because of having seen him on ... I think ... The Ed Sullivan Show.
I had no idea that mime was an art form and was fascinated by the communication that occured, though not a word was spoken.
Thank you, Maestro Marceau.

I always enjoyed his stuck-in-a-box routine.

The world must remember him, perhaps with a moment of silence at his funeral ....
Now, the final box will be felt closing in on his body.

How could they tell he was dead? Maybe it’s a schtick.

That’s what I was thinking. All he has to do is lay in a box and not move. Even I could do that. (but nowheres near as good!)
Anyways, RIP to him. Guess we’re all actors of sorts.

My mother and I went to see him in the early 70’s, I think at the Kennedy Center. He was fantastic.

he was french and the schtick was lame.
besides.....maybe hes just laying motionless, miming death
poke him with a stick

he toured the US a few years ago and i saw him here in Los Angeles - he was still a magnificent talent and quite agile. what is interesting about him was how he was part of the French Resistance during WWII and helped save many Jewish children from the Nazi killing machine. his father was killed at Auschwitz.

You may want to read the post after yours and learn he was the good and noble flavor of French. I agree it’s rare to find nowadays, but it’s a crime to paint him in surrender white (ironic!) when he was anything but.
