Recovered debris from TWA 800

More than six years after retired United Airline captain Ray Lahr launched his Freedom of Information Act petition into the fate of TWA Flight 800, the FBI has shown him –likely by accident – one seriously smoking gun.

The Boeing 747 blew up off the coast of Long Island on July 17, 1996. One of the FBI documents received recently by Lahr and his attorney details a communication that took place six days after the crash:

"On Tuesday, July 23, 1996, a representative from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) advised [the FBI] that after a visual analysis of both the videotape as well as a number of still photographs taken from various portions of the tape, the phenomenon captured by [redacted] appeared to be consistent with the exhaust plume from a MANPAD [Man-portable air-defense] missile."

"The FBI guy who looked at this must not have read it, or not have realized what it would reveal, Otherwise he would have redacted most of it as before."

I do however think I know what you meant, NO Ron Brown was on another plane that hit a mountain. Vince Foster was NOT on a plane at the time of his death, at least we don’t think so.

We know for a fact that cameras and film were confiscated from many people on Long Island who took pictures of the explosion. I wish there were just ONE smart person who never mentioned they had such photos, someone who has kept them all this time to prove what really happened.

If such photos exist, the person(s) who has them should come forward.

I will always remember one of the side issues after the crash.

Clinton announced that he would be showing up at the airport to comfort the families of the dead.

Cardinal O Connor told him, if he showed up at the airport, he would leave.

Clinton backed down and did not show up.

Cardinal O Connor had to be dead for Clinton to show up at St Patricks.

Especially important to me were the 21 wonderful people from my small town in PA. who perished that night...14 fine boys and girls from the HS French club, and their seven chaperones.

ALL the passengers and crew were important. Their families deserve to know the truth of what happened that night.

When George Stephanopolis was already a network commentator after coming from the Clinton administration he was discussing the issue of terrorist acts. He rattled off a list of terrorist events which had occurred during the last 10 years. He included TWA 800. I did a double take, but nobody on the set challenged him or batted an eye.

I have always read the posts on this topic since I had taken flight TWA 800 in April of that year. I still have my seat assignment coupon on the wall of my office at work.

So why was the destruction of Flt 800 by missle kept secret? Any one special on board, like maybe a Chinese fund raiser about to talk, or maybe Ron ( 45 cal hole in the head)Brown's cousin, or a woman in a blue dress ?
