Houssein Zorkot, a 26-year-old Dearborn resident, was arraigned Tuesday in 19th District Court on multiple felony charges, including carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent — a five-year felony.
Zorkot, a third-year medical student at Wayne State University, was allegedly armed with an AK-47 assault rifle and dressed in black clothing with camouflage paint covering his face when he was arrested Saturday in Hemlock Park.
According to police, Zorkot was observed attempting to leave the park in a black SUV after officers had received reports of a man carrying a rifle in the area. He was placed under arrest and is scheduled to undergo a preliminary examination at 9 a.m. Sept. 21 in 19th District Court.

When the East LA Shootout took place, I was surprised that no local fired on the perps from the surrounding structures. If newsmen can get within camera range, then a good guy with a rifle can do the same. As it was, the cops, armed only with handguns and shotguns (w/ buckshot), could do nothing until help arrived with B&B Guns "donated" AR15s.

This time of year for the past 4 decades, I have regularly left my residence wearing camo gear and carrying a long gun.

Who knows? The news media seemingly can't tell the difference between an AK-47 and a Webley revolver.
They never tell what sort of "assault weapon" the SWAT team uses to shoot the dog and the occupants with when they break down the door to the wrong house in the middle of the night in order to deliver a parking ticket warrant.
