1.0 INTRODUCTION

Fred Thompson has spent the better part of the year, via radio, print, and internet, telling the country what he believes. He has a unique ability to get his point across...

Read on to hear about the issues in Fred’s own words.”

2.0 ON CAMPAIGNING FOR THE PRESIDENCY

“Adlai Stevenson, I guess it was, said, you know, the trick is to do what’s necessary to be President and become President and still deserve to be President.”

3.0 FIRST PRINCIPLES

“For Americans, these are found in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. They include a recognition of God and the fact there are certain rights that come from Him and not the government. They are based upon a respect for the wisdom of the ages, and a belief that human beings are prone to err; that too much power must never rest in too few hands. The result is a system of checks and balances and a separation of powers that flow from our guiding documents and from the rule of law.”

“Finally, if we want to change or alter these concepts or any provision in the Constitution, we are given a specific method to do that by Constitutional Amendment.”

4.0 EMINENT DOMAIN

Another option would be the re-issuance of President Ronald Reagan’s Executive Order 12630, which directs federal agencies to “first do no harm” to property rights when issuing new regulations.

Thanks for the ping!

They are based upon a respect for the wisdom of the ages, and a belief that human beings are prone to err; that too much power must never rest in too few hands.

Compare this to Rudy's views on the need of the people to cede power to authority.

If you can find it, post that quote from Rudy. I can’t find it. It would be a good reminder just what a liberal authoritarian he really is.

Rudy

“Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do. “

This is a good article, but I especially liked this:

“Adlai Stevenson, I guess it was, said, you know, the trick is to do what’s necessary to be President and become President and still deserve to be President.”
