1.) Tragically, horrifyingly, but quite predictably, its going to happen. The only question being which American city or cities?
In a recent conversation with a former high level intelligence operative of our government, I raised the possibility of terrorists successfully detonating a nuclear weapon within the United States. His response was sobering in its hopelessness.
First, he stressed how grateful he was that he did not work in Washington, DC, and that his family lived far enough out to survive the coming nuclear blast. When I pressed him as to why he was so sure that Islamic terrorists with or without the help of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez would eventually hit DC or another American city with a nuclear weapon, his anger boiled out.
He pointed the finger squarely at our politicians and our politically correct, left-leaning media, who, in his opinion, have sealed our fate. He spoke of politicians from both sides of the aisle who consider border security nothing more than a cheap tool to be used for their reelection and enrichment. He despaired about a media that not only gleefully leaks our nations most trusted secrets for partisan gain, but then willingly acts as a propaganda tool for the very terrorists intent on our total destruction.
He warned of the hundreds of loose nukes floating around our planet. He patiently explained that the former Soviet Union (no matter what they or our government claim), cant account for a number of their nuclear warheads. That North Korea may well have a few they are willing to sell to terrorists to prop up their totalitarian regime. That Pakistan already a nuclear power may soon fall victim to the Islamic extremists trying to overthrow that government. Of an Iran further ahead in their development of nuclear weapons than thought. And last, but not least, he spoke of the thousands of cruise missiles unaccounted for around the world. A number of those missiles being nuclear tipped.
In short, because of what he portrayed as a betrayal by those sworn to protect us, a nuclear attack within our nation, in his mind, is inevitable.
2.) When said attack comes, you and your family are on your own. Period. My friend stressed that our government wont be there to help us. It is broken beyond repair and incapable of assisting those most affected by the blast.
He talked of critical infrastructures like water, electricity, fuel, banks, our food supply, medical services, police and firefighters, being unavailable for weeks or months. He warned of the blind panic that would follow such an explosion. Of the looting, of neighbor turning on neighbor to take what they dont have for their own survival. Of our economy suffering an economic loss in the trillions of dollars.
Knowing this, are you prepared? Can you and your family ride out the frighteningly unpredictable weeks or months following the loss of an American city and its inhabitants? If you are not in the city hit, can you survive?
You must ask yourself this question. For, unless there is a miraculous epiphany about to be visited upon our self-centered politicians, then such an attack is certain.
If our politicians and the voters continue to suicidally put party and partisan politics before the welfare and security of our nation, then the terrorists will find the opening to hit us.
Our government and media are failing us. Prepare for the worst.
lol, yeah, what you said
Brilliant use of a RonPaul2008 campaign press release in a humorous context!
Hit the right rail/highway nexus's and you could hamper extremely the ability to ship cross country without extreme measures.
It doesn't mean that the panic would be sudden or immediate. But, IMO, there would be an ensuing panic at some point if they hit the right spots.
lol, wut?
Ah yes, an unnamed source.
Your post dismisses those concerns with no counterfactual information.
The article contains no factual information, just unattributed hearsay.
Hollering B.S., isnt much of an arguement.
Claiming millions are guaranteed to die without a single piece of verifiable data is manifestly BS and I called him on it.
If the refineries get nuked, I don’t care about the price of gas. I’m more worried about food and water at that point
Our porous borders and MSM are absolutely a security concern. Too bad he conceals this accurate observation under a ton of hysterics.
But, if something happens to destroy that structure, which is as weak as a reed, then the breakdown of society occurs and it becomes every man for himself. Andrew was an indicator, Katrina even more so.
Building a thermonuclear explosive is difficult, but cookbook stuff. All the theory has been done, all the R&D work is finished. that is not what worries me. The small gun-type(Little Boy) is much easier to build and execute, however this is a very heavy explosive and ground deliverable. Depending on the amoount of fissile material, a small 3-5kT detonation is possible.
It is interesting that you take the nickname of a Byzantine Emperor. It has been stated that the Byzantines spent their entire existance trying to stave off what they considered was a certain and inevitable destruction at the hands of the barbarians or the islamic infidels. They lived and fought with that 'reality' in their minds for nearly 1000 years. If our societies had half of their valor, we would have nothing to fear.
The two things to know before your city is nuked by terrorists are: 1) The Paris Hilton porn video is grainy, illuminated mostly by night vision, and of relative poor quality, and 2) One-Size-Fits-All seldom does.
How has your life changed since the September 11, 2001 attacks on our country? How have the everyday events of Joe Normals life been changed?
Do normal everyday people feel any sense of their life being changed by these events? If you did not personally know someone directly affected by these attacks, do you feel or act differently now, almost two years later, than you did on September 10, 2001?
When you see a package or bag setting by itself does it stop you in your tracks, especially if the package is in a locale where it might damage vital infrastructure. In your mind do you think, Why is that package there? Should I report this to some type of security? What if its a bomb? Should I run?
Do you carry some type of camera with you to take pictures of suspicious, to you, activity? Do you have, at least, a three day stock of non-perishable food and bottled water for your family?
Do you pay attention to things locally that should bring themselves to your attention? Would you notice a person, in summer, mailing a letter wearing gloves? If its getting on toward winter you might not pay any attention to it. Would you pay attention if the person wasnt wearing a coat?
Or are you so caught up in national and international affairs that you STILL pay little attention to what goes on around you? Did you pay more attention to the bombing in Afghanistan and the War in Iraq than you do to your communitys emergency preparedness plan? Do you even know if your community HAS an emergency preparedness plan?
Why is it that Joe Normal doesnt pay attention, take precautions, learn what to do, learn where to go, learn who to talk to?
Im willing to bet that during WWII you could ask any school age child or adult where the nearest civil defense bomb shelter was and you could get an answer.
Why, in these perilous days, is comparable information not generally known, even by adults?
Would you know where to go if you received official information that your community had been attacked with a biochemical agent? How about a dirty bomb?
Would you know who to contact if YOU received this information from an unofficial source that you trusted?
Is the everyday person so blasé about events unfolding that they make no effort to learn these things?
Is the government, national, state, or local, so blasé about this information that it does not try to make the information known throughout its sphere of influence?
What is to be done about making the changes in our lives so that we may live, prosper and grow the way the nation of the United States of America should, without giving up essential liberties?
If these ponderings and questions dont make you pause and think then you may as well stop reading right now and go about your everyday life with your head remaining in the sand like the ostrich you are.
If these thoughts do make you think, what will you do about your thoughts?
Some suggestions
Find out about your communitys emergency preparedness plan.
If you dont already know, find out where the nearest emergency shelter is located.
Lay in a separate supply of nonperishable food and water along with a good first aid kit.
Buy a disposable camera and put it in your glove box.
Above all, do what the military taught me. Pay attention to detail!
Right on! We may see looting and lawlessness in the inner cities, but most Americans will pull together and help each other.
That's one thing, because of the scarcity of fuel there will be no more food being shipped in.
Water plants require, at least, electricity which requires some type of fuel at some point, even if it's coal, which would need to be shipped in to the electricity generation station.
Etc, etc, etc.......
Okay just out of curiosity, when the inmates get loose you and which army are going to stop these badboys from taking Hardastarboard's stuff?
And it won't be just a dozen or so gangbangers. Think about thousands of these hardcore felons turned loose on your community. Then a fate worse than death occurs. Geraldo Rivera shows up.
Fifty one pounds is without shielding. I actually saw one when I was in the Air Force.
My favorite part about the guy is that at the end, instead of trying to escape the city in secret and live out a comfortable existence someplace, he led the battle from the front.
When the walls were breached, he tossed aside all of the trappings of royalty and waded into the fight with his men.
They sure do get short shrift with respect to history. Lasting 1000 years and defending Europe from Muslim invasion for most of that isn’t half bad. :)
“You might be able to squeeze enough fissionable material into this case but it would be unshielded and weigh 40 kilos.”
Somewhat more than 51 lbs, eh?
“No government services for months? Baloney.”
I’m with you. And another false alarm, Social Security.
I trust my government. That’s why I’m not saving any money for my retirement. I’ve been promised that I’ll be taken care of.
There are many neighborhoods around this country where the day to day life is only slightly above this level. Some neighborhoods would never fall to this level, but others are only a half-step away, while the rest could well react this way.
As for government, I’m convinced it is just above the breaking point at every level.
You're damn skippy this isn't the WWII generation. The WWII generation are all down Florida at the El Boca Vista Condominiums, Phase III, demanding more Social Security, more Medicare, free prescriptions, and with the housing market tanking they'll want to be bailed out of their ARM's by the next Administration. I just can't afford to save another helpless New Orleans AND the WWII generation.
