The Two Things To Know Before Your City is Nuked By Terrorists

1.) Tragically, horrifyingly, but quite predictably, it’s going to happen. The only question being which American city or cities?

In a recent conversation with a former high level intelligence operative of our government, I raised the possibility of terrorists successfully detonating a nuclear weapon within the United States. His response was sobering in its hopelessness.

First, he stressed how grateful he was that he did not work in Washington, DC, and that his family lived far enough out to survive the coming nuclear blast. When I pressed him as to why he was so sure that Islamic terrorists – with or without the help of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez – would eventually hit DC or another American city with a nuclear weapon, his anger boiled out.

He pointed the finger squarely at our politicians and our politically correct, left-leaning media, who, in his opinion, have “sealed our fate.” He spoke of politicians from both sides of the aisle who consider border security nothing more than a cheap tool to be used for their reelection and enrichment. He despaired about a media that not only gleefully leaks our nation’s most trusted secrets for partisan gain, but then willingly acts as a propaganda tool for the very terrorists intent on our total destruction.

He warned of the hundreds of “loose nukes” floating around our planet. He patiently explained that the former Soviet Union (no matter what they or our government claim), can’t account for a number of their nuclear warheads. That North Korea may well have a few they are willing to sell to terrorists to prop up their totalitarian regime. That Pakistan – already a nuclear power – may soon fall victim to the Islamic extremists trying to overthrow that government. Of an Iran further ahead in their development of nuclear weapons than thought. And last, but not least, he spoke of the thousands of cruise missiles unaccounted for around the world. A number of those missiles being nuclear tipped.

In short, because of what he portrayed as a “betrayal by those sworn to protect us,” a nuclear attack within our nation, in his mind, is “inevitable.”

2.) When said attack comes, you and your family are on your own. Period. My friend stressed that “our government won’t be there to help us. It is broken beyond repair and incapable of assisting those most affected by the blast.”

He talked of critical infrastructures like water, electricity, fuel, banks, our food supply, medical services, police and firefighters, being unavailable for weeks or months. He warned of the blind panic that would follow such an explosion. Of the looting, of neighbor turning on neighbor to take what they don’t have for their own survival. Of our economy suffering an economic loss in the trillions of dollars.

Knowing this, are you prepared? Can you and your family ride out the frighteningly unpredictable weeks or months following the loss of an American city and its inhabitants? If you are not in the city hit, can you survive?

You must ask yourself this question. For, unless there is a miraculous epiphany about to be visited upon our self-centered politicians, then such an attack is certain.

If our politicians and the voters continue to suicidally put party and partisan politics before the welfare and security of our nation, then the terrorists will find the opening to hit us.

Our government and media are failing us. Prepare for the worst.

I assume that there will be no food to purchase if the economy is disrupted.

That's an important point. Most companies in recent years have moved to a "just-in-time" supply chain in the interest of cost reduction, and they store viturally nothing. Disrupt transportation and millions are at risk of starvation.

So tell me about the difference between gerunds and gerundives?

Gerundives are the sketchy places gerunds go when they're desperate and in need of a cheap buzz and an easy woman.

Oh really. And just how many job situations have you been in where your “boss” instructed you to write goodbye letters to your loved ones before you left, because the chances of you coming back were not good? And no, it was not a military exercise.

Keep talking as if drama were argument. You're done.

It would take a while to grow those gardens, and it may not be summer.

Yeah, it's a shame that so many folks have gotten so far away from having their own backyard gardens. The produce I grow is considerably better than I can buy in the store.

My parents both lived through the Depression. When I was growing up we grew most of the veggies and fruit we consumed, much as they did during the Depression, even though we were far from poor. I suppose I get my gardening and hoarding tendencies from their experiences.

The authors source for his concern was somebody in a position to see data which supports his concern.

Your post dismisses those concerns with no counterfactual information.

Hollering “B.S.”, isn’t much of an arguement.

My parents both lived through the Depression.

A lot of city folks (not mine), raised rabbits for meat during the depression, and especially with War rationing of meat.

Anybody with any brains could predict the results of what a nuclear blast would be

"I have serious doubts that there are any “suitcase bombs” out there in the wilderness."

There have NEVER been any suitcase nukes. To assemble even a low yield weapon would require nearly 100lbs of shielding and fissionable material. A medium yield (50-100kt) weapon would be more on the order of two steamer trunks.

TV and movies show suitcase nukes in a Zero Halliburton case like this:

You might be able to squeeze enough fissionable material into this case but it would be unshielded and weigh 40 kilos.

Yes there is a lot of scare-mongering but this portion is absolutely one-hundred-percent dead-on balls accurate:

He pointed the finger squarely at our politicians and our politically correct, left-leaning media, who, in his opinion, have “sealed our fate.” He spoke of politicians from both sides of the aisle who consider border security nothing more than a cheap tool to be used for their reelection and enrichment. He despaired about a media that not only gleefully leaks our nation’s most trusted secrets for partisan gain, but then willingly acts as a propaganda tool for the very terrorists intent on our total destruction.

If 9/11 didn't provide an epiphany I don't know what will..

I figure that seeing the Capitol building, the White House, the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, and the Washington Monument all destroyed in an instant might take them aware from 'reality TV' for a bit.

I’ll buy the inevitable nuclear/biological attack. But the panic and financial crash? Violence of neighbor-on-neighbor outside the affected area? No government services for months? Baloney.

That is exactly what will happen in case you are figuring you are not in a targeted area so you will be OK

Everything is so intertwined in an advanced society that removing one block has tremendous ripple effects especially financially

“Small aircraft?”

A real possibility. A beaver on floats launched from a cargo ship 75 miles off the beach would do the trick. This is just low tech enough to fit the MO of our enemies.

Why wouldn't we do better than the war-scarred Japanese?

The Japanese had been at War for years, were prepared to die defending their homeland, and were making daily sacrifices, running their trucks on pine-root fuels.

Our media and "Leaders" tell us that the WOT is a bumper sticker, give aid and comfort to the Enemy, and publish their propaganda. The People are managed by bread and circuses, and are vitally interested in reality TV, and online porn and gaming.

That said, however, I am encouraged by liberals I know who had an epiphany on 9-11, and joined us at the Range on 9-12. I do not consider it hopeless.

We just need to "Awaken the sleeping giant", and this will be accomplished by such an attack.

What follows will make the "Enemy alien" Japanese "resorts" look like a Brownies' picnic, whether the Goverment is involved or not.

When the opium dream of socialism, drumming circles, and kumbaya Sings collapses, people revert quickly. Had I not seen it with these "hopeless" people I know, I would not be so encouraged. One had to take her website down, because she transformed it into such a vicious anti-muslim site she was getting daily death threats and hacks. This made her really mad. She remains mad. She will kill if she has to.

“The W54 warhead used on the Davy Crockett weighed just 51 pounds and was the smallest and lightest fission bomb (implosion type) ever deployed by the United States, with a variable explosive yield of 0.01 kilotons (equivalent to 10 tons of TNT, or two to four times as powerful as the ammonium nitrate bomb which destroyed the Alfred P. Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995), or 0.02 kilotons-1 kiloton. A 58.6 pound variant?the B54?was used in the Special Atomic Demolition Munition (SADM), a nuclear land mine deployed in Europe, South Korea, Guam, and the United States from 1964-1989.”

Small nukes do exist, and the marketing folks can package them in many ways.
