It would take a while to grow those gardens, and it may not be summer.

Yeah, it's a shame that so many folks have gotten so far away from having their own backyard gardens. The produce I grow is considerably better than I can buy in the store.

My parents both lived through the Depression. When I was growing up we grew most of the veggies and fruit we consumed, much as they did during the Depression, even though we were far from poor. I suppose I get my gardening and hoarding tendencies from their experiences.

My parents both lived through the Depression.

A lot of city folks (not mine), raised rabbits for meat during the depression, and especially with War rationing of meat.
