I may sound like a babbling, elated old man, but I know I can vent with the supporters on FR.
I got a haircut on Friday morning of this week. I was sitting in the chair getting the deed done and the stylist was trying to make the usual small talk. She talked about her family and I talked about mine. I told her I had a son about her age, 22-23. She then asked if he was around here. I said no, that he was in San Diego. She queried, does he work in San Diego. I told her he works with fifty thousand of the finest young men this country has to offer. He's a United States Marine. She said,,OH.
They still don't get it! They may never understand!
I don't want an answer to this post. Just an elated father babbling his thoughts to people who care, who know and who get it!

God Bless Our Haditha Marines
Babble away, sir.
You’ve shown us all how to stay strong and keep the faith.
Semper Fi.
I know what you mean.
I have been blessed enough to have been raised next to (and returned here after college) Fort Hood, Texas, home to 40,000+ of the finest men and women in this country. I am very proud that my friends, neighbors, and customers serve their country, and I am humbled to be able to serve them back.
What these people (like your son) do as a routine is so much bigger than themselves, yet they do it mostly without complaint, and in anonymity.
I am happy that your son was cleared, Mr. Sharratt, and I am proud of him, too. Thank you for your sacrifice, as well.
A$$holes of the world (turn on speakers)
I and other freepers stand with you, Mr. Sharratt, and are humbled by your strength of character and perserverence. It is no wonder that your son turned out to be the noble man he is with you as his dad.
Semper fidelis,
LH
I get it and I appreciate your post, this thread, and your son’s service for our country.
Then she could say ," We both have sons that are the finest warriors and defenders of our country."
.... but maybe she can only say..."Your son is a Marine, Oh...well my son is shoveling sh#t in Louisiana.".....
JagHunter has excellent coverage of the Haditha mess. I hope our guys come out on top. I wish Bush would give limited pardons to our guys because it’s become too divisive an issue. If Lieutenant Calley can be pardoned then so should they.

When you next contact your son, please thank him on my behalf for his service to our Country in such perilous times. We have a volunteer military now, so his choice of career has special meaning.
Also, please allow me extend my gratitude to you and the rest of your family for raising such an honorable and brave young man.
Hearing stories about young Americans like your son gives me hope for the future of America. You have a right to be both pissed off and proud.
Hogwash.
Exoneration, dismissal of all charges by General Mattis, it's the only way to end this travesty with honor and protect and defend the future of these Marines and the USMC itself.
There is no place in this for President Bush.
I wish I could go to the barber and get a haircut for $10 instead of a $75 one from the stylist.
Best wishes to you and your son.
My barber does haircuts for 8 bucks, and his TV is always tuned to FOXNEWS.
Well, Calley was Nixon’s pardon, and Nixon isn’t in office anymore.
That pardon was wrong, but on the other side of the issue a lot of the people calling for Calley’s head were just the pot calling the kettle black. And Captain Medina was completely railroaded - even a famous liberal lawyer was willing to step in to defend him.
But does he cut a woman’s long hair for 8 bucks?
His wife does, although I’m not certain of the price for that. I’ll ask next time I go. I can’t imagine it would be much, certainly nothing near 75 bucks.
