Just happened. Not up on USGS yet. Probably about a 5.0
Interesting...I felt it good at Hollywood Way/Magnolia.
Not any closer to getting that beach front property in Antelope Valley.
Rock n a Rollin’ in L.A. Hey!
They pulled your other ping thread bd might wanna put a ping up here.
This one was not fun. Remember though that it was shallow so we’re going to feel it more strongly. It was a bit rough where I’m sitting for such a low magnitude.
LAFD has some engines looking around, but not in earthquake mode. LA County Fire telling unit to return to their normal operations.
I saw what seemed to be an instantaneous lightning flash and then felt the rolling immediately. I’m at the bottom of Rocky Peak. For a moment, I was reminded of the Northridge earthquake. Unnerving.
Really? I miss those babies :-)
I lived through the ‘71, ‘86, ‘94 and a few others. Most of the time in the Valley. (though I was only a baby during the ‘71 :-)). When I bought this house in 1999, the geologist told me I wouldn’t be bothered by quakes up here, because the whole development is on a granite hill. We’re on the eastern side of Laurel Canyon, south of Mulholland.
Glad you and everyone is safe, if a little rattled. That ‘94 quake was a big menace, I don’t want to have to deal with that kind of mess again.
probably some wires arching....or a transformer blowing....during Northridge I looked out the window and it looked like Baghdad with all the transformers blowing up....
And the aftershocks begin.

Magnitude 4.5 - GREATER LOS ANGELES AREA, CALIFORNIA
Just refreshed the batteries in my flashlight and got out my slip on shoes thinking about a shot of Amaretto.
bttt
I’m in Marina Del Rey on my sailboat, I din’t feel nuttin’.
Regards
I was in Sherman Oaks in the 94 quake. Now I'm South of Northridge. This was surprisingly rough for such a small quake. I'm still a bit rattled, lol. Nothing fell but the neighborhood is all awake.
Oh lucky you and on a boat where it’s safe! :)
Well hopefully you’ll be on a boat if one ever hits near Marina del Rey. That area has some ground problems where I would not want to be there during any quake.
Perhaps I shifted at the exact moment and missed it. Sounds like it.
Then you are on solid ground it sounds like and that’s good.
The only problem with being in the hills is access. Right after the 94 quake when I was able to crawl over all the stuff that fell and get outside, I looked up into the hills and counted several fires. They were still burning at least an hour later and you could hear sirens but the Fire Dept. couldn’t get close enough.
Batten down your hatches and stay safe!
Thanks Karl. That's good to hear!
A family from Camarillo calling into KNX now. Saying they felt a hard jolt then lots of shaking which woke them up.
Woohoo for your earthquake alarm dog!
Good to hear no damage, Karl!
