A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

What Do You Believe?
READ: Isaiah 50:4-10
The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. Isaiah 50:4
Francis Collins earned a Ph.D. in physical chemistry at Yale University and then entered medical school. During his training at a North Carolina hospital, a dying woman often talked to him about her faith in Christ. He rejected the existence of God, but he couldnt ignore the womans serenity. One day she asked, What do you believe? Caught off guard, Collins face turned red as he stammered, Im not really sure. A few days later the woman died.
Curious and uneasy, the young doctor realized that he had rejected God without adequately examining the evidence. He began to read the Bible and the writings of C. S. Lewis. A year later he fell to his knees and gave his life to Jesus Christ. The catalyst? A sincere question from an elderly woman whose physical heart was failing but whose concern for others was strong.
In a prophetic picture of the Messiah, Isaiah 50:4 says, The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary.
May we be ready with a timely word or a caring question to point others toward our Savior who offers life and peace to all.
Lord, let me be a shining light
In all I say and do,
That Your great love displayed in me
May lead someone to You. Sper
The next person you meet may need to meet Christ.

Here is a pix from last night's mini reunion. This was our homeroom gang. Larry is the man from Mass on the floor next to me (and our class valedictorian) . He is in town for family reunion & so that is why we scrambled to get a group together.
It is hard to believe that next year we will have our 45th reunion. We had a pretty large class of about 800 & that is about half of what it would have been as a new high school opened 5 months before graduation. That brought a lot of hard feelings to split the group. I really felt the seniors should have stayed with the old group.
as you see I am wearing red flowers in support of the troops!

Good Morning The Mayor
Good lesson. I have a friend who does not believe and I hope to someday come up with the right words to share with her to make her think more deeply about it.

I went out and started trimming and weed eating after I heard the triple digit forecast. I had to come in before finishing some heavy pruning on a large, tall bush..It looks pretty lopsided but it was just too hot for me ..I will try to get out earlier in the morning to finish...next week!
Lady J..You post such fun graphics,LOL.
Dolly..how great you look! I am so glad you all could do this.
GeeBee..I am cool now...I intend to feed the birds and my little raccoon..and that’s it outside for at least two days!

Do you have the nasty heat and air, too?
I'm staying in. The crappy air is getting in here and that's bad enough so that my meds can't keep up. Too bad because the pool is 82º.
Tomorrow's air is expected to clear nicely and temps will go down to the low 80's. If the pool's temp. stays good, it'll be heavenly.
Cheers, Cool GeeBee!
