I taped a segment on the O'Reilly Factor for airing tonight to defend Free Republic against charges that it is a hate site. The segment will air in the 'D block' around 8:35 p.m. EDT and rerun at 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. EDT.
Rather than tell how it went, I'll leave it for folks to watch and decide for themselves. I hope I did right by FR.
We'll be having company tonight as some of Bill O'Reilly's two million-plus viewers check out FR for themselves. So please bear that in mind as you comment tonight. The Daily Kos is waging a very nasty personal campaign of retribution against O'Reilly. No sense in us piling on. Let's use this as an opportunity to show people why FR is the best conservative site on the web.

O’Really(?) ticked me off a long time ago with how he’d invite FReepers on and talk over them in the minimal time he gave them...I believe TrueBlackMan was one of them. But, he does that to almost all his guests. I bet he has one of those alarm clocks that play recordings so he can wake up to the sound of his own voice.

What bothers me is that I'm certain that a very similar issue came up in California a few years back, and FR did sue - and win. The defendant was a local government, IIRC.If I'm right, it would seem that the best response to BORe would be to point out that it is a matter of public record that FR has been able to vindicate its reputation in court. And without threatening action against Fox, it is fair to say that BORe has been complaining of "hate" directed at him which is not a bit less fair than the calumny he has lately directed at FR.
It is unconscionable to mention FR in the same breath as left wing sites which are (and, to remain left wing, must be) heedless of facts and logic.

I didn't get to see it, but, from what I've read on this thread so far, O'R would have come a lot closer to "fair and balanced" if he had given a screen name as a source instead of impugning the whole site and expecting his audience to take his word that what he said was an accurate representation of the overall posting here.
I can't imagine that many of his viewers didn't notice that, and decide to come here and check it out. I know that vicious and hateful things are said here, because I've seen some of the posts. But, they can't hold a candle to the absolutely vile things posted at leftist sites. And,although I've noticed more of those type of posts than usual in recent months, they are proportionally much fewer in number than the more representative posts at FR. Those truly "fair and balanced" folks who come here will notice that, factor trolls into the mix, and use common sense in making a determination about the site. Welcome to them!
