He’s resigning a position, not from the bar, so disbarment should still be an option.
But, he’s hoping that falling on his sword will prevent that.

Oh, I think he’s just resigning his post as DA. If he wanted to, he could hang out a shingle.
He should be disbarred and then sued for all he’s worth, has ever been worth, or ever will be worth by the families of the defendents.

I don't think he admitted "guilt" only that he had the best of intentions. He said nothing to indicate he was guilty, IMHO.
