OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- An arrest has been made in the homicide investigation of 18-year-old Kelsey Smith.
Late Wednesday night, police said Edwin R. Hall, 26, of Olathe, was being held in the Johnson County Jail in connection with the slaying of Smith.
Law enforcement crews combing a large wooded area near Longview Lake Wednesday found a body believed to be missing teenager Kelsey Smith, who was abducted from an Overland Park Target store parking lot Saturday night.
Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass said Smith's body was found about 1:30 p.m. across the state line near Grandview, Mo., about 20 miles east of the abduction site.
Positive identification was pending, but Douglass said volunteer searchers could stop their work. He did not say how the woman was slain, but KMBC reported that there were signs of trauma to the body.
"As I understand she was found at a wooded area, but I can't say whether she was directly concealed by bushes," Douglass told reporters during an afternoon news conference.

Maybe he & his wife were into kinky stuff with role-playing...not sure. Here's a cached site of Aletha's where she fears rape.
It is VERY hard to read. I also highlight it so that I can read it.
Whoa, I didn’t see that! Then Aletha would have known of his obvious violent ‘issues’, if you want to call them that!
They said last night they would be seeking more warrants today, so I’m sure the computer was on there - they probably went to the house today. Maybe we’ll hear.
Here’s even more - his adoptive family got him when he was 7, but had to give up on him at 15 because of his violent nature - and he also was accused of an attack in 2002!

Kelsey Smith was a Christian...RIP sweet child.
My sister works at the church where the Smiths attend. It is a very, very conservative religious church.
I have no doubt that he probably tortured small animals. I still think that he has killed other girls before. He’s one scary guy.
She sounds like a wonderful young lady. My thoughts and prayers to her friends and family. :(
All I can find is a couple of judgments, no forclosure records
Where did you find the foreclosure records? I am not having any luck on my own.
At the link I gave earlier:

Put Hallowell in Last Name
Put David in as First Name, if you want - not really needed
Then click the “Civil” button
Then click “Partial Name Search”
Scroll down to “WACHOVIA BANK NA VS HALLOWELL,ET AL”
He may have, that’s for sure. I’m very curious to find out about the home he came from originally - perhaps a family where both parents were incarcerated, which put him in state custody.
Also wonder if his birth father or whoever he had been taken away from was the one he referred to as the mean one, rather than his adoptive one.
OTOH, if he had “no memory” of putting a knife to his sister, immediately after it happened, then he may not have much memory of his early childhood, either - other than what’s in his genes’ memory, that is.
I’m still kind of put-out over his wife’s glowing MySpace narratives of their happy family life, when it’s obvious all these other bad things continued after he married her.
I also wondered where the little boy was when the two of them were seen riding the new motorcycle all around the neighborhood during the early part of the day Saturday. Hopefully, he was with the neighbor and his little boy.
Still pondering some of this ... I wonder if his “real name” was Jack before he was adopted.
I have no idea. It could just have been a random attack.
RE: Search Warrant(s)
A poster on another forum heard on their local KC news that the search warrant for Hall’s home has been executed today and that investigators continue to bring out bags of evidence, including a “caged animal.”
They have also served a search warrant at “Hall’s brother-in-law’s” house. That would possibly be Glenn Hallowell, who I noticed lives elsewhere in Olathe. The brother named Dennis had the same Lincoln St. address as the elder Hallowells and Edwin/Jack and Aletha.
They also said that the ME (Medical Examiner) had been called to the home and that is very unusual.
I hate to say this, but I had been thinking last night that someone should check to see where Aletha’s parents are, since we haven’t “heard” from them in this and that is their house - and we know that money is tight and yet, Edwin/Jack and Aletha/Le had a new motorcycle last weekend. Just sayin’.
This privacy stuff goes too far sometimes. I had tried to find out over the phone how my brother was (in the hospital in serious condition) and they wouldn’t tell me. He was in FL and I was in NY. This juvenile record should be unsealed in cases like this one. Grrrrr.
Her only other option is to remain at home for the rest of her life and have me drive her around to wherever she wants to go.
What about the other Edwin Hall, Edwin Keith Hall to be exact, listed in Olathe, age 51? Is that the adoptive parent that gave up on him? Haven’t heard from that side of the family either. Maybe they washed their hands of any hint of connection to this sicko.
I haven’t read all the posts so sorry if this is a duplicate. Aren’t the adoptive parents from the Emporia area?
Here’s a good article from the Emporia Gazette:

I don’t know anything about the adoptive parents. A couple days ago Rte66 and I exchanged the fact that we had uncovered an Edwin K Hall in the Olathe are, and I said maybe it’s this guy’s dad or uncle. Age was given as 51. That was before I heard he was adopted. So I was asking Rte a question about it.
