OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- An arrest has been made in the homicide investigation of 18-year-old Kelsey Smith.
Late Wednesday night, police said Edwin R. Hall, 26, of Olathe, was being held in the Johnson County Jail in connection with the slaying of Smith.
Law enforcement crews combing a large wooded area near Longview Lake Wednesday found a body believed to be missing teenager Kelsey Smith, who was abducted from an Overland Park Target store parking lot Saturday night.
Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass said Smith's body was found about 1:30 p.m. across the state line near Grandview, Mo., about 20 miles east of the abduction site.
Positive identification was pending, but Douglass said volunteer searchers could stop their work. He did not say how the woman was slain, but KMBC reported that there were signs of trauma to the body.
"As I understand she was found at a wooded area, but I can't say whether she was directly concealed by bushes," Douglass told reporters during an afternoon news conference.

I think she deleted her husband’s account. It’s totally gone and invalid.

Shawn’s Parents Tried To Find Kelsey Too :) .....
The parents of a teen missing from eastern Missouri for more than four years traveled to the Metro to help search for Kelsey Smith. Now Shawn Hornbeck’s parents’ mission is to support the Smith family.
Hornbeck’s parents, Craig and Pam Akers, said they came to the Metro to help organize the volunteers searching for Kelsey.
“Wanting to give them the message of hope and now that hope just went out the window,” Pam Akers said.
The Akers were working on a meeting with Kelsey’s parents, when police announced they found Kelsey’s body”

My Gut tells me he did take Kara , & That’s why he was so Sure of himself with taking Kelsey in broad daylight !

I was assaulted by a guy in a major discount department store, in a large city, on a Saturday at approximately 5:00 P.M. Luckily, I had taken self-defense and was able to break the guy’s hold on me. (I was looking at something on a shelf when he came around the corner and grabbed me). Upon seeing he was the same height/weight as me I gave chase and tackled him.
With hundreds if not thousands of people in the store it still took about 3 minutes of my yelling for help (I had the perp on the ground and was losing strength) before an older man accepted the “challenge” to help me.
The guy broke away from him and my attacker literally ran past HUNDREDS in line at the checkouts all the while I was yelling, chasing after him, STOP HIM... He got away, but an alert employee who worked by the door managed to get the guy’s bike out from under him as he tried to get away (yes, on a bicycle)...
Self-defense is a very good idea. I took a self-defense class as a teenager and I remembered enough over 15 years later to turn the tables on my would-be attacker. It was like an instinct, and it shocked even me that I knew what to do... Shocked him even more! (o:
Good Grief! I was only stalked, but it was terribly frightening. Fortunately I was with a man, I had left his presence to shop throughout the mall. When I realized what was happening I hurried back to our meeting place. Would you believe that when I came out of the store with my escort the guy was standing there brazenly staring at me! It gave me the shivers.
No, he apparently doesn’t. He’s married with a four year old child.
