(May 17) Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and other Senate negotiators announced an agreement with the Bush Administration on an amnesty/guestworker bill today. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has set a May 21 cloture vote to begin debate on the bill.
Although the legislative language is not available yet, key components of the "compromise" include:
An immediate amnesty for nearly all 12-20 million illegal aliens who will get legal status for residence and jobs (with assurance of green cards no later than 13 years);
Mandatory workplace verification and some extra enforcement to try to slow the flow of the next 12 million illegal aliens enticed by the amnesty;
Tripling of the rate of chain migration of extended family from around 250,000 a year to around 750,000 a year for about a decade; and
New flows of 400,000 temporary foreign workers each year, bringing their families and having anchor babies who will be given U.S. citizenship.

Perhaps I’m a tad too white for the Amnesty program.
That's a large part of it for sure.
I can't find the figures at the moment but illegals have 'contributed' billions to the coffers without the liability of having to dole out SS, etc to them.
If this bill includes the illegals in SS, medicare, etc we are lost.
I'm going to wait for the particulars of the bill before I make a judgment but if it is amnesty, fast track to citizenship, inclusion in SS, medicare, etc. then I'm bolting the pubs and not to the dims.
Perhaps Madison was correct in Federalist 10 when he discusses the reality of “factions” but incorrect in his solution - minimizing the effects of factions. And boy, do we have factions in the country and it’s completely unclear to see how the effects of them are minimized.
That is an excellent characterization! He had been my senator for many years and it seems as if he will never go away, kinda like the stuff that grows under the toes of nursing home patients.
From what I'm hearing today, I think the clowns in DC are already feeling the heat!
I can't wait for the Lou Dobbs show tonight.

Broading the tax base by giving amnesty to 12 million people who fall under the “earned income credit” tax line and absorb 100 Billion a year in social services for which they pay nothing? Which KoolAid bottle did you drink from?
Even if this amnesty bill strictly precludes the illegals from claiming Social Security, you have to know that a few years from now a judge will find it unconstitutional to not give them Social Security for the time they claim to have been in the US using another Social Security number(s).
Why are you trying to discourage him by listing all the dis-qualifiers?
I am very sorry that you appear to be educated, law-abiding, and an English speaker. These are characteristics that our leftist politicians do not desire. The ability to think and support yourself are a killer. Learn to speak Spanish and join the Catholic Church we may be able to sneak you into the US in the Vatican mailbag.
Keep trying, we need you. Good luck.
They really don't care what color you are. After all, they're going to give ALL of the terrorists amnesty too, and God only knows what colors they all are. The secret is this: Just act stupid! That's what they're looking for. Stupid people are easier to control. LOL ;o)
trust me, Snowe and Collins will most assuredly sign onto this mess. They have supported every amnesty and cheap labor bill to surface.
Actually if you really want to know what this is about, it is about broadening the tax base.

I’ve always wondered what in the world the reasoning was behind this apparent stupidity!
“Conservatives just need to TAKE BACK THEIR PARTY!”
There seems to be only one way to make that happen, massive losses in elections till they are all unemployed. The leaders in the party will not tolerate dissent from the riff-raff that are the base and will move heaven and earth to protect those rinos from primary challenges.
I am looking at the Constitution party. The republicans are simply too stupid to govern.
I called the ones in GA for whatever good that will do. The standard answer was that it isn’t happening ‘till Monday. We need to bombard them!
Unfortunately without a CONSERVATIVE SUPER CELEBRITY like a Mark Levin, Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh, I don’t see the party making anything more than a blip on the radar screen

That is completely untrue. Back it up.
He voted against welfare for illegals, among other things. He voted to increase legal immigration, which is attacked by certain rabid anti-immigration groups.
Go to numbersusa and get his record of voting on immigration. Do your own research!
I did do my research.
You are making an untrue claim and won’t back up your assertion.
