Ohio Teen Sues Planned Parenthood Over Child Abuse

(CNSNews.com) - A teenager in Ohio has sued Planned Parenthood affiliates in Cincinnati, alleging that when she sought an abortion, its employees failed to report that she was a victim of incest.

The lawsuit comes at a time Planned Parenthood in Los Angeles is fighting back against a pro-life activist who posed as a pregnant 15-year-old and recorded a clinic employee suggesting that she lie about her age to avoid filing a statutory rape report.

The suit in Ohio alleges that when the girl sought an abortion in November 2004 -- she was 16 years old at the time -- she told Planned Parenthood staff that her father was the baby's father and that he had been raping her since 2000.

It alleges that the employees did not comply with Ohio law, which requires them to report suspicion of rape and incest to authorities. The suit charges that failure to report the rape led to another year and a half of abuse.

The girl, whom Cybercast News Service will not name because the crime was committed when she was a minor, is seeking $25,000 in damages "to compensate her for the severe harm she has suffered as a direct result of [Planned Parenthood's] breach of their duties owed her." She also asks the court to levy punitive damages against Planned Parenthood.

Becki Brenner, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio, told Cybercast News Service Tuesday that she feels sorry for the girl who is suing her organization, calling her a victim of pro-life activists.

"I consider this woman a victim not only from her father and the abuse that occurred previously," Brenner said, "but I feel she's also being a victim from this court case and what's going on politically regarding this case."

Brenner declined to comment about pro-life activist Lila Rose's undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood clinics in California. As Cybercast News Service previously reported, Rose videotaped a Planned Parenthood employee encouraging her to lie about her age to obtain an abortion without reporting statutory rape.

"I can't comment on what happened in California," Brenner said. "All I can tell you is what our policies here are and that we follow the law."

"Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio follows the reporting laws as required in the state," she said, promising to "vigorously defend this lawsuit."

The lawsuit, filed May 9, includes as evidence an unrelated internal Planned Parenthood report on a case of suspected sexual abuse report from October 2004. In that report, a Planned Parenthood employee says she did not file a police report about the suspected abuse "after consultation with PPCR [Planned Parenthood Cincinnati Region] attorney ... due to physician-patient privelege (sic)."

"We are prohibited from reporting as no severe bodily injury was reported," the document said.

Dana Cody, executive director of the Life Legal Defense Foundation, told Cybercast News Service that the lawsuit is evidence of a larger problem across the United States.

"I can't say with 100 percent certainty that I know this is going on nationwide," Cody said, "but ... when they kind of pop up all over the nation, you know that it's not coincidental. You know that there is some concerted, systematic ... something going on to make the same problem occur in different states."

Life Legal Defense Foundation, a non-profit pro-life legal center based on California, is helping fund the lawsuit against Planned Parenthood in Ohio.

Responding to Brenner's charge that the girl is being exploited by pro-life activists, Cody said "the pro-life movement didn't go to [the victim]."

"[The victim] went to a private attorney, and the pro-life movement did get involved because that's what we do, we try to protect the sanctity of human life, including women who are exploited by the abortion industry."

It seems that these stories are adding up quite rapidly.

This is why PP wants to sue the girl that did the undercover sting on them. There’s a tsunami about to break on them, and they know it.

“We are prohibited from reporting as no severe bodily injury was reported,” the document said.

No severe bodily injury...how about the breaking of a hymen? That is not bodily injury? They guy was raping his daughter since she was 12 for pete’s sake!!

Planned Parenthood is so sick and depraved.

3,300 murders every day in the U.S. by Planned Predators and their cohorts, and nothing will stop it.

There needs to be a sweep of all Planned Predator employees and an immediate dump in prison. There’s blood on their hands.

The lovely and graceous governorette of New Jersey was just quoted yesterday as saying the reason she’s opposed to capital punishment is that the criminal is wanted emotionally by some family member, whereas the “fetus” in an abortion is “unwanted”, so it’s ok to slaughter the unborn baby. This logic is coming from a governor. Are we in trouble or what?

Bingo! There are thousands of girls who went to PP hoping they’d get help. The more these stories hit the news waves the more are going to pop up with similar stories of abuse that was ignored and unreported.

The inconvenient fact about these cases is that if PP gets a reputation for reporting and/or turning away minors, the abusers will simply haul their victims to illegal “back-alley” clinics instead. Much more dangerous for the girl and no risk whatsoever to the perp that the illegal abortionist will report the abuse to authorities. A policy (which is no doubt the unwritten one) of strongly encouraging girls to report their abusers and spelling out how they can do so safely, and where applicable (which is often) helping the girl to understand that her adult “boyfriend” IS in fact abusing her, is much more fruitful than letting word get around that PP will grab you and call police if you go there while you’re underage.

By definition every 12-16 year old girl has been raped (different states have different ages of consent). The PP should be FORCED to report to the police each and every child that inquires about abortion regardless of circumstance.

Also $25k is chump change. The PP will settle out of court with their lunch money.

The Girl should set her targets a little higher. Also there should be a criminal investigation to ‘accessory after the fact’. Once abortion practitioners get real jail time maybe they’ll reconsider their $$profession$$.

Planned Parenthood is so sick and depraved.

And all in the bottomline of big big money.

She should hire Johnboy Edwards, he would sue for $25 Mil, and likely get it. If nothing else Johnboy Edwards is accomplished in tort law.

The feminazis are all about a woman's 'right' except apparently a woman's right to report rape or incest. All in the pursuit of abortive 'freedom' and the dollars it brings in. And leftie feminists claim to be the champions of womans rights. *eyeroll*

We need more clinics like the “Life Way Women’s Center.” They don’t get government money so they can practice that pesky Christian talk.

Perhaps, but that’s hardly the sort of place that statutory rapists, incestuous fathers, and pimps are going to be sending their pregnant victims. And people like that are often very good at making sure their victims do what they’re told, and only what they’re told.

This is further proof of what I’ve been saying for a long time. They don’t care about the girls. They care about a profit and that is it. I suppose they figured they could get more money if they allowed the father to get the girl pregnant again. They wouldn’t want to have this guy arrested and deter other sex offenders that are having the child they created through their crime murdered.

In PP’s eyes, incest is a GOOD thing.

Excuse me? What “back-alley” abortion clinics? This isn’t the 1920’s or 30s. Do you really think someone who did 4 years undergrad, four years of med school and two years of residency would throw that all away to perform a $50 dollar abortion in a corner store knowing that he could get arrested at any moment?

Please.

The “back alley” practitioners are rarely med school graduates (and often not even college graduates), though a few are graduates of foreign medical schools who can’t qualify for a US medical license, and a few are US-trained MDs who’ve lost their medical licenses for some sort of misdeeds in their previous practice. It’s the same situation as with unlicensed plastic surgery — typical cases of which are noted in this article http://www.health24.com/news/Skin_Hair/1-945,39476.asp
