The Warren County Sheriff's Office says its seeks the public's assistance in locating two elderly women from Warren County.

Mary Ellen Walters, 68, and Ada Wasson, 80, were last seen last Thursday April 19th at Otterbein Retirement Living Community located at State Routes 741 and 63 in Warren County. The two women live in the Patio Homes section, which is an independent living area.

They are believed to be in Mrs. Wasson's’ silver 2000 Chevrolet Impala bearing Ohio registration DG 30 LC. The women were believed to have been traveling to a JC Penney outlet center either in Columbus, Ohio or Carrollton, Ky.

Friends and neighbors alerted sheriff’s detectives Sunday that the women had not returned when expected.

Detectives have not been able to locate any record of their whereabouts after leaving home. There has been no activity on any gas or credit cards belonging to the women.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, but police are concerned for the women’s safety.

Major John Newsom said detectives have exhausted most of their investigative options.

“We just need the public’s help at this point,” he said.

If you can help, call (513) 925-1280 during business hours or (513) 925-2525 after business hours.

###

UPDATE

There will be a search Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 27, 28, 29 - anywhere 50 miles east or west of I-71 from Columbus to Carrollton, KY. Grab a map, some posters and stake out a plot of territory to search. They could truly be anywhere.

Travel the roads less travelled and go down dirt roads and look down long driveways to abandoned homes. It would be great to hang a poster on "No Outlet" signs after driving down dead end roads so as to alert others that the road has already been searched.

Take a couple bottles of water and a snack in case you find them! They'll be thirsty and hungry!

For more information, or to print some posters, go to www.neighborsearch.info

A $5000 reward is being offered by the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

Thank you.

Were there any video cameras in Penney’s outlet’s parking lot? And if so have they been checked?

Was your mother in law known for keeping a tank full of gas? Many elderly are known to do this.It would widen the search area considerably. If she kept the car in good shape with oil changes and such,it does not seem like a breakdown occurred.Maybe a flat tire that would be hard to repair for them.Am praying as hard as I can.Wish I could do more.

Hope y’all have good news soon.

Hello All,
Thanks for your suggestions, kind words and Prayers. They still are not found. 13 days and counting. The Warren County Sheriff says they are calling in more help.

We had 800 searchers Saturday and 500 Sunday. From Columbus, Ohio to Carrollton, Kentucky. On a 50 mile wide swath. Also covered southern Indiana. We try to cover every road, always turning right until we get back to origin and then start another block.

They were likely sighted at a mall in Carrollton but then the trail goes cold. One clerk remembered a specific purchase that they made that matched what my mother in law had told family they were going to buy. Also remembered details of car.

We are slowing down ground search during week because people have to work but we are going full bore again next weekend. In the mean time we are doing internet blanket contacts of orgs, companies and people who can add incremental search help. i.e. rural route postal carriers, trucking cos, food delivery cos, hotels, and all law enforcement in target area.

You all can help by sending notes to news orgs asking to see more of the coverage and by showing interest. National media (Greta, CNN :-( , networks as well as local media from Columbus to Cincinnati to Lexington to Louisville and all in between.) We need to keep the story out there to keep up momentum and to keep the searchers involved. Just one note will be great.

There have been several suggestions you have made that are really helping us focus and some things you have suggested that we are already doing or researching. I can’t respond to each one right now but keep ‘em coming!

Right now people still suspect they got lost, wrecked or ran out of gas in some out of the way spot. No reason to suspect otherwise.

(This is Cindy’s cousin)

I’ve contacted the local Christian radio station (104.9 The River) and they’ve been in touch with Scott. He was on the radio this morning and they plan on putting more on later today.

I’ve also contacted the 3 news stations here in Columbus and have talked with a reporter from each. One may be stopping out for some video, all seemed to be planning on contacting Scott for further information and putting an update to the stories on the air tonight.

I’ve also made some internal contacts here at O.C.L.C. and are working to get the Missing Persons Poster and some instructions on how to join the search efforts distributed to all of the local libraries between Columbus, OH and Carrolton, KY (we ARE a ‘library’ company, for Gods sake and should certainly be able to find our local members! :-)).

We’re also contacting the high school (where all of Robin’s former students are) to get families in Madison and Union counties motivated.

Any activity on prescription refills/transfers ? If they are’t stranded maybe they’ve been to a pharmacy to try and get med’s refilled?

Let me know if there is ANYTHING else that you can think of and we’ll make it happen.

God’s speed and strength to you all.

This is a nasty, ugly question to ask and I know your heart has to be in your throat already, but are there any bodies of water they would have had to cross to get to their destination?

Do you have the VIN number of the car? If the car had to be repaired, they may have to order parts from a dealer. The dealer would probably need the VIN number to order parts. If they were carjacked, they would need the VIN number to sell it.

Have you checked used car lots in Ohio and Kentucky. There are at least two 2000 silver Impalas for sale in Columbus.

Also, have you checked for road construction or detours along their route? If they had to take a detour, they could have gotten off a planned (by road construction crews) detour. This could give other routes to search.

Thank you for the update ~ I’m just extremely sorry the news couldn’t be better right now.

Continuing prayers for them, & the rest of your family. Also prayers for the rescuers, that God may give them the knowledge & wisdom of the direction they need to go in this case.

God Bless....

When we lived in central Missouri my daughter and would often drive over from their home in Illinois for a visit. I insisted that she call me as soon as they made it to the Missouri side of the river.

Having an accident and ending up in the water has always petrified me. When something like this happens it’s the first thing I think of.

Prayers for this family that these ladies are found safe and sound.
