Pittsburgh rated 'most livable' once again

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl doesn't remember the last time Pittsburgh was rated No. 1 in the country by "Places Rated Almanac." That was in 1985, and he was only 5.

But he grew up in "America's Most Livable City," and last night said he was glad to hear that the latest edition of the almanac has again put Pittsburgh No. 1.

I’m sorry, but back in the 80’s when Pittsburgh was number one, it was well deserving of the honor. Not now. The town and the whole region is in bad shape.

I can’t wait to move out of here when I retire. There are better places.

We really enjoy our visits back there. When staying at my in-laws, it is so quiet at night, you can hear a pin drop. Not where I live!! And we are so used to closing our blinds but they leave their curtains open!

I love it where they live of course, if you don’t have to worry about money, that’s another story.

I agree that there's better places to live... and I've found one of them in Tinytown USA. But if I had to live in a "BIG" city, I think it would be Pittsburgh. Though even then it would be in the suburbs somewhere.

I am glad that they are cleaning up the rift raft in Pittsburgh. You are right. It is a beautiful city especially at night with all the lights on.

DC in the top ten? It’s gotta be liberals that made this list. There’s not a single red-state city in it. If these are the most livable, why are people moving out of there to the south and southwest? If I remember correctly some of these actually lost population in the last census.

According to Forbes mag, where I live, the SF Bay area, is worse than Detroit in terms of places for business people to live and do business. We took a perfectly good thing and allowed the Left to destroy it.

Boston should not be in the top 10. I live in a Boston suburb and I would not recommend that anyone move here. Crummy climate, hideously liberal, outrageous home prices, Big Dig and the rudest and most elitist condescending people in the United States. However none of the cities in this top 10 are cities where anyone would want to move to. Rochester, NY is a ghost town with Arctic weather, why on earth would that be in a top 10 list ? I could pick 10 cities in Texas which would be far better than this top list.
