The entire nation will now collectively mourn one of the great tragedies one can endure: the death of so many of our children.
But a detailed analysis of the facts will also be ongoing. There are many questions from all observers.
It just seems to me, when law enforcement finds two dead bodies on a sleepy university campus in the 7 A.M. hour: they immediately should slam the Red Alert button. Yesterday there were some lame remarks about getting out an email (two hours late) and that there wasnt time to get the word to both lock down the campus and stop the influx of tens of thousands of commuters.
They dont have radio and TV in Blacksburg, Virginia? If at 7 A.M. a tornado was announced heading for that campus, what would have happen? How about a snowstorm? We had high winds in Washington D.C. this week and the schools were closed three hours early. It was on every radio and TV station in seconds. With that huge force of law enforcement, a good police commander could have closed every road into that campus in no time.
They got radios, cars and flashing lights, dont they?
Did anyone notice that a bunch of those law enforcement offers were, ahem, chubby?
Law enforcement at Virginia Tech didnt save one life. They didnt waste one bullet doing it either. Somebody should be ashamed: law enforcement didnt fire a shot. The only shooter on that campus got tired after all the mayhem he made.
If my kids name was killed in the classroom after 9 A.M. I am one angry parent.
When is the last time law enforcement found two dead students, murdered students, on that campus during the 7 A.M. hour?

The student killed two people in a dorm room, returned to his dorm room where he re-armed and left a “disturbing note” before entering a classroom building on the other side of campus to continue his rampage, sources said.

Some students question why administrators did not cancel classes after the first shooting, and why it took more than two hours to inform the university community via e-mail about the first incident.
I hate this type of Monday Morning Quarterbacking. If Universities closed shop any time a murder occurs in close proximity, then many city schools would be shut down more time than they are open for business.
How many times does someone shoot another person and then flees the scene to escape capture? Now compare that to the number of times a person shoots another, then waits 2 hours, then shoots another 30 people. There are MANY other things to be upset with the pres of the university(no guns allowed), than this.
How about we start with the design of the road system and go from there.
At what point do you think the "Red Alert" panic button should have been pushed?
(p.s. you've got a good thread going here)
How about we start with the design of the road system and go from there.

Don’t remember when he was banned, however. It has been some time ago.

5 minutes after the 1st shot at 7am.
The author of this is an illogical idiot. He has NO clue. Too bad. I read the first couple lines and understood he was the ‘box of rocks’ type.
How about we start with the design of the road system and go from there.

So - do you blame NYPD and FDNY for all the deaths in the second tower?
Why race to give out facts before a proper investigation is even underway? If you've ever watched the news during a breaking event, you know that the real facts don't come out for several hours. Why panic 30,000 students when it might not necessary? Why are you in such a rush to make a potentially stable situation into a madhouse? Do you really think that it would be any safer, and that there would be fewer problems if the police immediately and publicly jump to conclusions in the next ten American campus shootings?

An immediate lock down after 1st shooting more than likely would have resulted in the shooter being prevented from moving to the 2nd shooting location, two hours later on the other side of campus.
Tonight, at least three people will be murdered in San Antonio. We don't know who, or where, or why. We do know it will happen.
Is it too early to criticise our police for these murders? For those of next week? What are you doing about them?
Approving the campus CCW measure that failed this January might have been a nice start. Armed students have cut short numerous campus rampages in the past (Appalachian State, Texas, etc)
You'll never prevent 100% of these incidents or fatalities (nor would you ever want to live in any society that could), but allowing CCW would help reduce the body-counts, and has done so in the past.
The idea that authorities didn’t have time or resources to get the word out is so lame it’s outrageous. They were derelict in their duty.
