Approving the campus CCW measure that failed this January might have been a nice start. Armed students have cut short numerous campus rampages in the past (Appalachian State, Texas, etc)
You'll never prevent 100% of these incidents or fatalities (nor would you ever want to live in any society that could), but allowing CCW would help reduce the body-counts, and has done so in the past.
It is unseemly how media types try to get attention for themselves by recasting this event from a tragic crime to an administrative scandal of which they will dictate the story line. Also the guillotine image of bloody heads rolling is disgusting in this context.
