[BREAKING] N.J. Gov. Corzine Hurt In Car Accident
WBZTV.COM ^ | 12 APRIL 2007 | AP

(CBS) GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine was injured Thursday night in a car accident on the Garden State Parkway, but a spokesman says the injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine was elected governor of New Jersey in November 2006, soundly beating Republican businessman Doug Forrester in a race that set records for campaign spending but alienated voters with its mean-spirited politicking. With 97 percent of precincts reporting, Corzine had 53 percent to Forrester's 44 percent.

I imagine the governor was as well.

Yes, by state law if he was in the front seat. Every state but New Hampshire requires seat belt use for front seat passengers.

The Gov will now make a good poster person for wearing seat belts.

The kind of injuries you get from seat belts are liver, spleen and bowel injuries. You typically do not get rib fractures from seat belts. I would consider the description of his injuries to have the potential for life threatening complications. I know what I’m talking about. I work in a level 1 trauma center and we see many, many horrific traffic accidents. He has a hard road ahead and despite any political differences, he and his family have my prayers.

Amen to that. Those injuries are horrendous.

Bushs Fault!
No wait!
it is Imus’ fault! if he hadn’t said that the Governor wouldn’t have been there at that time.

Prayers going up for Governor Corzine.

My son had similar injuries from a motorcycle accident. His life was saved by the trauma team at a big city hospital. Long recovery afterwards.

Hats off to all the dedicated trauma team personnel at Cooper Hospital and everywhere else.

Nanuet is okay, although parts of it are pretty nasty. You must go to Harriman State Park, which is maybe 15 miles northwest of Nanuet. Check out Perkins Drive, which goes to the top of the mountain and has a fantastic view. You might recognize it from some of the car commercials filmed there. Also take a run on Tiorati Brook Drive, but do it slowly the first time. Very twisty road.

Master Class Shooters' Supply in Monroe, Bob's Gun Exchange in Goshen, and Gander Mountain in Middletown are an easy drive. Davis Sporting Goods in Sloatsburg is close, but some people do not get along with the sales staff. They do have a lot of stuff, though. The Firing Line in Pearl River - if it is still there - has an indoor range and an okay selection.

For trail maps and other stuff, check out Ramsey Outdoor in Ramsey, N.J. on Route 17. It is not the one where they shot the Sopranos episodes. If you bowhunt, ask Sean about Jersey bowhunting. The non resident cost is a little steep, but there are plenty of deer management zones that have daily bag limits for antlerless deer. You can fill up your house with venison.

Look,I would never in a million years vote for a limosuine liberal like Corizine but I wish him a speedy recovery.
Its just bad karma to wish misfortune on a political opponent and it sucks just as much when we do it as the DU moonbats who wish all kinds of misfortunes on Bush and Cheney.

Every day I’m amazed at the capacity of the human body to withstand these injuries. I’m amazed at the surgeons who are able to patch up people who are so severely injured. I work in a step down unit and the patients done stay long before the go to the regular floors or to rehab. So I’m always happy to hear of people I’ve cared for and how they are doing. Is your son doing ok? I certainly hope so. some people recover fully, but some have lingering problems for years. Age and overall health is a big factor. I’ve seen elderly people die from the same type of injuries that an 18 year old only stays in the hospital a few days for.

The majority of people who run from an accident are the uninsured. And who makes up the brunt of the uninsured motorists? Most likely illegals. I know two people who have been hit by illegals and we know this because they got out of their vehicles and ran each time.

Rib fractures is oversimplifying his injuries. He suffered 12 rib fractures, a sternum fracture, a collarbone fracture, and vertebral fractures. At the very least he has a flail chest. I haven’t heard anything about his liver, spleen, or lungs yet.

My son is fine. He was walking and back to work on a light schedule in four months; back to work fulltime in six months.

He still has residual pain from the accident but he deals with it. He landed on his hip, good thing he had a fat wallet! He had to have a rod inserted in the femur, like Gov. Cozine. Fortunately, he was wearing his helmet, so he avoided head injuries. His chest was not crushed (being on a motorcycle) but the blood loss was great. They almost lost him on the table, but TG, they were experts.

The worst thing he recalls were the fentanyl nightmares. His screaming almost woke up the dead down in the hospital morgue. The nurses were super. They watched him like eagles 24/7. I still can’t express my gratitude enough. And my amazement at the capabilities and skills of the docs. One doc wanted to amputate the leg—it was in such bad shape. A young doc said, “Hell, no! I’ll save that leg.” and, bless him, he did.

Everybody, please wear your seatbelts when in a car; please wear your helmet when on a motorcycle.

And show appreciation for the docs and nurses at your local hospital.

BTW, my son was struck by a drunk driver. :( So please don’t drink and drive...ever.

Illegals, yes, and also native-born DRUNKS run from accidents.
