(CBS) GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine was injured Thursday night in a car accident on the Garden State Parkway, but a spokesman says the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine was elected governor of New Jersey in November 2006, soundly beating Republican businessman Doug Forrester in a race that set records for campaign spending but alienated voters with its mean-spirited politicking. With 97 percent of precincts reporting, Corzine had 53 percent to Forrester's 44 percent.
That’s the impression I got also
I wonder if Richard Codey will make it the 180 days as Acting Governor in order to be legally considered “Governor of New Jersey” for historical purposes.
This is the third time Codey’s become Acting Governor for an extended period. Surely that’s some kind of record?
He has 12 broken ribs
“Holy crap, NJ, you people need a wake up call.”
You might find this hard to believe, but there are some of us who didn’t vote for him.
“Was the governor late to the meeting?”
I wondered also, but I haven’t read anything that specified what time the meeting was scheduled. Furthermore, everything written prior to the meeting said it was to take place in an “undisclosed” location.
No worries! Actually I was speaking about NJ (as you said you’d probably be doing some driving here) but I’m very close to the NY border anyway.
God’s speed to the Governor and I wish him a fast and painless recovery!
You're welcome. I'm right in line with you on this one! And I think that the point SHOULD be made--by bringing honest, unassailable figures to the fore of discussion in this country.
update2 from Bloomberg:
Dr. Steven Ross, trauma director at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, said today at a press briefing:
... “It’s extremely painful, it hurts to breathe.’’...And that is the critical thing here, to make sure he has enough pain control so that he can breathe on his own without the ventilator, but not so much pain control that his mental status is depressed so he cannot breathe.’’
How about his easy pass records if he went thru any of those gates.
Get real.
“Authorities were still searching for the red pickup truck and its driver.”
I guess I don’t understand this. The red truck was probably trying to re-enter the roadway, which is difficult to do on the GSP. Who knows, the white van could have been speeding along with Corzine’s SUV.....they didn’t have their cars under control.....Corzine doesn’t wear a seat belt, and it’s all the red pick-up’s fault?
Troopers are smart enough to know to wear them.
The biggest worry would be the formation of blood clots. That’s what killed Derrick Thomas the former Kansas City Chiefs star after his accident.
right. Could this be the next chapter out of the nifong school of justice?
“right. Could this be the next chapter out of the nifong school of justice?”
LOL!
FOX news just said that they’re searching for a red pickup “that fled the scene.” I’ll bet that guy had no idea what happened behind him!
there is a computer dohinkie that has the speed logged.
you mean on the suv/cruiser? That evidence should be preserved.
I dont trust LE in this case.
