Republican Wimps...(lying down and letting the Democrats roll over them)
American Spectator ^ | 4/11/2007 | The Prowler

Posted on 04/11/2007 5:25:56 AM PDT by IrishMike

Republican staff in both the House and the Senate are stunned by the lack of push back from GOP members against House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.), who last week launched an unprecedented fishing expedition to get at the files of an opposition party.

Waxman sent a letter to the Republican National Committee demanding copies of all the e-mails sent by Bush Administration officials "for partisan political purposes."

"On a limited basis, we [the GOP] have tried to get Democrat emails, and stuff from the DNC, we were doing it during some of the Clinton scandal investigations," says a current House Republican leadership staffer. "But what troubles me isn't so much that Waxman is doing it, it's that so many of our members aren't trying to fight it. They are just lying down and letting the Democrats roll over them. It's depressing."

Waxman's letter last week -- actually sent while he was traveling with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the Middle East -- came on orders from Pelosi, House majority leader Steny Hoyer, and their staff, who saw an opportunity to get insights into the short and long-term political thinking of the opposition party, say Democrat House staff. "They see an opening to get at material that we normally don't see," says a Democrat leadership staffer. "If the Republicans had the same opportunity, they'd be jumping at it too."

I don’t think it even phases them. The wimps are in their own little world trying to be liked by the opposition, they don’t even consider us until election time.

If you act like a Gentleman when attacked by a rabid dog you are going to get chewed up and spit out.

What happened to the spying on emails that Democrats were doing a while back. That was just dropped with no one being prosecuted.

Waxman should be told to go suck an egg.

Repuiblicans cowardice is what lost them the majority and it appears they havent changed a bit.

"Look at Newt, he agrees with Kerry about Global Warming."

Not so.

No need to bluster about it; just don't send it to them. Or send them a page or two full of redacted material...

Make it look something like this:

REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE INTERNAL MEMO
Dear *******,
****************************************************
**************************************************
******************************************************

Sincerely,
*************************

Give them 400,000 copies of memos and letters similar to this one.

In the middle of the stack, put one memo authorizing the changing of the vending machines from Coke to Pepsi.

Agree.

I think most forget that the GOP won the House in 1994 due in large part to the revolutionary, Newt Gingrich. He had a vision and dragged the House GOP with him to victory.

Prior to that time, as now, the GOP was/is happy to sit cowering in a corner and thank the rat’s for a few table scraps.

The RNC should do a lot of things...grow a spine, return to supporting conservative candidates, quit playing patty cake with their enemies...but it won't.

This is all setting up for us to get embarrassed in 2008. We’re going to ge our hats handed to us.

I agree completely. Unless there is some unforseen catalyst, Republicans have again lost their way and seem to not have the stomach for any type of political combat.

Incumbants will hunker down and hide in their foxhole trying to protect their incumbancy. The RNC has become gelded and so will probably aimlessly try to pour resources into more Lincoln Chafee types and spout nonsense about "a big tent". Many Republicans will add to this and call for surrender and demand that we move to the squishy middle which will result in more self-inflicted damage.

If a guy like Rudy happens to get elected Republicans will be set back at least one, maybe two, generations. While all this is happening Democrats will become more emboldened with the full support of the MSM and we can expect more Republican "scandals" as Democrats go into one crazed witch hunt after brazen witch hunt.

It's a bleak picture right now based upon the spineless, cowering Republicans and "Exhibit A", the Duke rape case. It just shows that we can expect things to get harder before they get better. Until someone comes along and stands up to the evil Democrats and their MSM handmaidens, their terrorizing witch hunts will continue and things will be bleak.

Forget it.......the Conservatives will be blamed for not supporting the “nice” Republican liberals and letting the “bad” Democrat liberals, take more seats.

Most of us can’t see a dime’s worth of difference, except that the Dems still seem to have balls,
