Republican Wimps...(lying down and letting the Democrats roll over them)
American Spectator ^ | 4/11/2007 | The Prowler

Posted on 04/11/2007 5:25:56 AM PDT by IrishMike

Republican staff in both the House and the Senate are stunned by the lack of push back from GOP members against House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.), who last week launched an unprecedented fishing expedition to get at the files of an opposition party.

Waxman sent a letter to the Republican National Committee demanding copies of all the e-mails sent by Bush Administration officials "for partisan political purposes."

"On a limited basis, we [the GOP] have tried to get Democrat emails, and stuff from the DNC, we were doing it during some of the Clinton scandal investigations," says a current House Republican leadership staffer. "But what troubles me isn't so much that Waxman is doing it, it's that so many of our members aren't trying to fight it. They are just lying down and letting the Democrats roll over them. It's depressing."

Waxman's letter last week -- actually sent while he was traveling with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the Middle East -- came on orders from Pelosi, House majority leader Steny Hoyer, and their staff, who saw an opportunity to get insights into the short and long-term political thinking of the opposition party, say Democrat House staff. "They see an opening to get at material that we normally don't see," says a Democrat leadership staffer. "If the Republicans had the same opportunity, they'd be jumping at it too."

When the GOP loses more seats this is going to be exactly who. Conservatives have no use for wimps.

It is the Bush “New Tone” and the spineless see we are really nice crowd.

These spineless jellyfish Republicans should not be surprised come 2008 when we throw more of them out of the Senate and House for this very reason.

COWARDS the whole lot of them.

I’m so gratified that the Democrats are “draining the swamp” in Washington, DC.

I knew they were lying during the campaign, but I didn’t think that they would really be this stupid and crass.

Oh well. Time for the next mind bending fishing expedition in committee.

They couldn’t lead when they were a majority.

GOP has been doing that for years, glad someone in DC seems to have finally noticed.

Quite right. The boys and girls lost their way.

Well, now they are reaping the old whirlwind. I hope they learn something from it.

As if the Democrats have never done something “for partisan purposes”. These nannies of the Left should be fought.

They should have learned their lesson when G. Bush Sr. lost the election.

Correct. But we cannot change the past, only learn from the mistakes. That is my hope.

Who the hell does Waxman think he is (other than the Phantom of the Opera!)? The RNC should tell him to go to hell, in exactly those words!

The trouble is we want to punish our own RINOs and the left wants to punish them also. This is why we can never finish the job.

Republicans needed to sit on their hands or else they will rile up the dems. base when the next election comes around.

At least thats their winning strategy, plus a new tone in DC and all that “feel good stuff” while truth and justice wither away.

The spineless wimps in the GOP ought to tell Henry “Nostrilus” Waxman that they will turn over the emails when Sandy Burglar turns over all the documents he stole from the National Archives to protect the Clintons. Sheesh...it’s this lack of street smarts that doomed Republicans to failure when they were in the majority.

Don’t blame this on Bush. This is not a new phenomenon. I simply do not know hat to make of this anymore. I have seen this behavior among Republicans before. They genuinely seem to be afraid of Democrats and genuinely seem to believe, deep down, that Democrats are the rightful owners of the whole political system and that their role is simply to sit quietly in the corner, do their work, and try not to get the Democrats mad at them. It is sickening. There is absolutely NO FIGHT in these guys whatsoever. It’s pathetic. It’s like my tagline, they seem to have a battered spouse mentality, they just sit there totally stripped of any self respect and take any beating dished out to them.

I don’t think it is that at all. I think they are gentlemen and think that that is how you are supposed to act all the time. Even when being attacked by a rabid dog.

Why not? He isn't even man enough to defend against the lies against him, or even defend Gonzalas. Throughly disgusted with him and this party of pnssy's!

But I think it has to do also with these people have made friends with the Liberals and want to be seen as civil and frendly, while getting the shite kicked out of them.

I also think that the problem is we have a bunch of Republicans that really do not believe in Conservative values, and it is why they give them up so fast.

Look at Newt, he agrees with Kerry about Global Warming.
